With that in mind, we created a new gallery feature for our visitors that allows you to view every single picture that goes hand-in-hand with a respective article right here on egmCarTech. You even have the option to download the photo right to your desktop and set it as your background. All photos uploaded to egmCarTech come in 1280 pixel width resolution.

To give you an idea of how the new gallery feature works, we decided to bring you some new photos of the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera and 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S.

egmCarTech v3.5

In Sept. 2009, we launched egmCarTech version 3.0. Almost a year and half later we’ve grown significantly, but not to the point where we have met all our goals in offering you a one-stop-shop for everything automotive. That’s why today we launched egmCarTech version 3.5 (meaning 4.0 will come when we have all the tools we want in place).

Version 3.5 of egmCarTech is an enhanced version of 3.0 – it’s a lot wider (especially in the content area – 630 px wide to be exact) cleaner, whiter, easier on the eyes – however, we did our best to keep a lot in its place so you don’t lose your familiarity with the site.

Over the next couple of months, we’ll be launching a lot of new tools that will make egmCarTech your one-stop-shop for everything car related. We’re not going to spoil anything for you now, but stay tuned, you’re going to love what we have in store for you.

Bob Lutz

It is true that Bob Lutz will be at the 2011 New York Auto Show to unveil the Lotus Evora S, Lotus Evora IPS and the new Lotus KV Racing Technology. However, what many people don’t know is that Bob Lutz will also be announcing at the 2011 New York Auto Show that he will be joining the egmCarTech editorial team.

Between being a member of the Lotus Advisory Council, Lutz will share his time and point view on the auto industry here at egmCarTech.com.

Lutz brings years of automotive experience, which includes being the former vice chairman at GM and many upper level manager at several car companies including BMW, Chrysler and Ford.

We are looking forward to Lutz’s input here and hope you are too. Please join me in welcoming Bob Lutz to the egmCarTech team.

Happy Thanksgiving from egmCarTech

There is a lot for us to be thankful for this Holiday season. First and foremost, we are thankful for still having an automotive industry to provide coverage on – especially when you take a look at and realize how far the American auto industry has come from its huge downturn last year. Second, we are thankful for having a great team here at egmCarTech that’s made it through tough times to keep the site still running and providing our respected visitors with daily coverage of the automotive industry.

Most of all – we are thankful for having great visitors that keep coming back to read more and for trusting us with providing them reliable coverage and reviews. By now you’ve probably seen most of our car reviews on our egmCarTech Reviews section. If you’re new to egmCarTech or new to our Reviews section, we’ve complied a list of the most read reviews for you right here so you can become familiar with what we’ve been up to and what other visitors are reading.

We”re a little different than other publications when it comes to reviewing a vehicle. Usually, we get a test-vehicle from an automaker for 7 to 8 days. Instead of just providing our visitors with one full review, we provide daily updates on each vehicle currently in our press fleet through our Weekly Test-Drive posts. We allow you to connect with us while we”re testing the vehicle for a full week by asking us questions in the comments section. So stay in touch.

Yesterday we introduced you to egmCarTech v3.0′s Videos section. Today we’re going to talk a little about our Reviews section. Now that we’re cool enough to ride around in press cars for a whole week to provide a detailed review, we’ve created a dedicated Reviews page where you can browse through the latest reviews by the egmCarTech team.

Unlike other automotive sites, we’re a little different when it comes to reviewing a car. Instead of providing you with one single review at the end of our week-long test drive, we spend everyday of the week providing you with updates as we go along. That gives you, the visitors, the chance to ask us as many questions about the vehicle we’re reviewing. Of course, at the end of our week-long affair with any vehicle, we provide a full, detailed review.

We encourage you to use Twitter if you’re looking for a quicker response. We always have our iPhones and BlackBerrys (or BlackBerries) on us so we can quickly reply to your questions if their send via a Tweet. If you’re not following us on Twitter yet, we don’t know what you’re waiting for. Check us out on Twitter ASAP. Stay in touch and stay connected. You’ve probably noticed that things look a bit different around here at egmCarTech. Well, that’s because last week we launched the new and redesigned version 3.0 of our web site. For the remainder of this week, we’ll be introducing you to a new section of egmCarTech 3.0 everyday (or at least until we run out of things to introduce).

Today, take a little break from the news content and check out egmCarTech Videos at http://videos.egmcartech.com. This section of egmCarTech lets you browse through the latest automotive videos in our database by categories or by simply typing in something in the search text field. Once you pick a video you like, you can watch it, rate it, write a comment about it or pick up the embed code and post it anywhere you like.

Here it is – after all the long nights and hard work – we are pleased to release egmCarTech v3.0. We’ll get into more details about the new version later on in the day after the news content tones down a bit – but for now you should definitely enjoy the following…

• Brand new layout: 560-px width of content area, a lot cleaner and a lot more organized.
• egmCarTech Videos: We’ve launched a new section dedicated to just car videos. It has it’s own theme, look and feel – and it’s fairly easy to navigate. On a side note, we’re still in process of adding all the videos so by tomorrow you’ll see a lot more content on the Videos section.
• egmCarTech Reviews: Since we are now cool enough to get press cars to drive around for a week, we decided to ditch that Buzz Garage section (it was pretty useless – we know) for a Reviews section. Over here you’ll see all the latest reviews by the egmCarTech team along with our daily updates of vehicles that are currently in our press fleet. There is a lot more interactivity (hint: Twitter will be part of the game) coming to egmCarTech Reviews, so stay tuned.
• Archives: Looking for an easier way to go back and read more content? Check out our new Archives page. It basically covers every possible way of reading old egmCarTech content.

After a bunch of late nights and hard work, we have finally completed egmCarTech version 3.0. For those of you worried, we did not sell out to anyone, nor did we add a lot of bells or whistles. We stayed true to our blog format but added a lot of additional interactivity including a new dedicated Reviews page for all of our latest Reviews. We also improved our Videos section with its own dedicated theme, look and feel.

The best part? The new version focuses more on the content with most of the site interface focused around our posts rather than the sidebar as with the current version.

Either way, we’re working on some last minute things and we’ll be going live with version 3.0 tomorrow at 12 p.m. Make sure you stop by and check us out. For now – enjoy the teaser above.

As mentioned earlier this month (or even last month – I don’t really remember) we’re working on a new egmCarTech. As we work out some kinks in our new layout (which hopefully should be launching Monday) we’ll be going down for an hour or two or maybe even 3. Nonetheless, we’re pretty sure you’re going to love the new theme. So bear with us and stay tuned. You won’t be able to see egmCarTech for a little bit. This is the last warning. Don’t freak out.

Upgrading egmCarTech: Yesterday, Stephen told you about how we’re working on a new egmCarTech – and by ‘new’ we mean more than just some minor visual changes. The new egmCarTech is going to more interactive, will allow you to follow us during our test-drive and reviews like never before, will have a very organized video and reviews page and much more. However, we will never sell out and move away from our blog format since that’s what our visitors have come to love expect of us. Either way, let us know if you have any suggestions or inputs on what you would like to see in the next version of egmCarTech. We promise we’re listening. On a side not, we’re not promising you anything on when you’ll see the new egmCartech in action – it could be next week, it could be two weeks from now; it all depends on how smoothly everything goes down.
