eBay Motors has teamed up with Justin Bell to introduce the world’s fastest car show – literally.

“From the pit lane at Daytona to the boulevards of Hollywood, join former Le Mans winner Justin Bell each week for a thrill ride through the best and baddest that the automotive lifestyle has to offer,” eBay said in a statement. “Speedy and addictive, this is the World’s Fastest Car Show.”

In this first episode of World’s Fastest Car Show, Bell takes the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 out for a spin on LA’s secret race track – Mulholland Drive. Then he gives an exclusive look at the elite Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance concept lawn.

When people have money but just don’t quite have enough, especially to dolly up for the $1 million-plus price tag of the legendary Bugatti Veyron, yet relentlessly want the car, sometimes individuals would do the unthinkable in order to get what they want. And that’s exactly what 25-year old Mike Duff from Florida did.

But instead of selling his left leg and kidney for e Bugatti Veyron, Mr. Duff took a normal and complete 2002 Mercury Cougar and more or less made a “Cougatti Veyron.”

Using fiberglass, composite material and a tubular steel frame, the body of the faux supercar was professionally painted and fitted to the Cougar. And Duff didn’t stop there. In order to avoid having an interior that’s exactly the same as the normal, cheap insides of the Cougar, Duff festooned everything in genuine high-quality leather.

Duff said the car took him about nine months from start to finish. With the end results, Duff is selling his “Cougatti” for around $89,000, which is a fraction of the price of the original Veyron.

Unfortunately however, despite the custom body work that actually doesn’t look quite terrible, the lethargic 2.5L V6 good for 170-hp in the Cougar still sits under the front hood driving the front wheels.

BMW of UK has announced that it will start selling parts and accessories direct to owners for the first time, through a new partnership with eBay, the leading online retailer. Known as ‘BMW Direct’, which is now live on eBay.co.uk, will help BMW UK satisfy the growing demand from enthusiasts for purchasing original parts online.

“With its new store on eBay, as well as merchandise BMW fans will be able to buy genuine BMW parts and accessories such as brake discs and car care products direct from the carmaker,” BMW said in a statement. “This is BMW’s first venture into e-commerce and will allow the carmaker to reach those customers not accustomed to visiting a BMW dealer regularly.”

BMW is also the first automaker to open a store on eBay UK.

“As a premium car manufacturer, we are always interested in understanding customer preferences when it comes to buying products,” said Carl Sanderson, General Manager Aftersales Development. “We recognise that there are customers who wish to buy BMW products but do not necessarily want to travel to a BMW dealer to make a purchase.”

BMW M1 for sale on eBay

Regardless of the type of ride one may be into, car enthusiasts of all sorts derive much pleasure from perusing the Craigslist autos section, or any other vehicle listing source for that matter. EBay is one such source to look for cars both locally and nationally, and has a reputation for turning up gems every once in a few, and that’s exactly what was found on eBay motors; a gem.

A 1980 BMW M1with a mere 4,418 km – or 2,747 miles on the odometer, has been listed for sale for an undisclosed amount. According to the owner, the car has been garage kept and immaculately maintained since the day it left the showroom, 31 years ago. There was a bid as high as $165,000 earlier, but that figure didn’t even meet the reserve price set by the seller.

The car was originally intended for a racetrack, and developed in association with Lamborghini. The company chose instead to produce the car, of which 451 remain on the roads today.

345 Kia dealers to list entire new vehicle inventor on eBay Motors

Kia Motors America (KMA) has announced that it will start selling new vehicles on eBay Motors. Kia said that more than 345 Kia dealers have signed up to list their entire stock of new vehicle inventory online.

“eBay Motors’ large, multi-dimensional marketplace aligns perfectly with Kia’s rapidly expanding brand and offers consumers a comprehensive and convenient shopping experience for our entire new vehicle lineup,” said Tom Loveless, vice president of sales, KMA. “The program already has proven to be popular with our dealers with nearly 50 percent of Kia dealerships signing on for the program in just two weeks’ time, and more and more signing on every day. What you’re looking at here is a modern interpretation of the Plymouth Road Runner based on the 2009 Dodge Challenger with a 6.1L HEMI turbocharged V8 engine. The concept is being put together by an independent designer Michael Leonhard, who is selling the car once he’s done building it.

The 6.1 HEMI turbocharged V8 allows for a total of 620-hp with a maximum torque of 650 lb-ft. 0-60 mph should come in 3.8 seconds.

Even before it’s built, Leonhard has put the one-off model up for grabs on eBay with a Buy it Now price tag of $950,000. Of course, you want to be careful before you go spending close to a million on this car since Leonhard says “in order to improve the finished product, changes to the design may occur during the building process.”

Starting Wednesday, eBay will start including vehicle history reports from Experian Automotive at no cost to vehicle buyers and sellers. The reports will be available on all cars sold on eBay that are built after the 1981 model year. The reports will available on all vehicles sold in eBay auctions and classified formats, as well as for vehicles sold by dealers or by private parties.

“We’re interested in being the best place to buy and sell your car online,” said Nicolas Franchet, senior director of U.S. vehicles at eBay Motors.

Franchet said that the reports will help create a level of trust between vehicle buyers and sellers. The reports will display automatically and sellers may not opt out, reports Automotive News.

Earlier this month, General Motors decided to extend its partnership with eBay through September after selling just 50 vehicles through the http://gm.ebay.com site. Well, GM announced today that it will be ending its listing of cars online through eBay after not generating enough sales.

The pilot program in California allowed GM dealers in the state to list their inventory of Buick, Chevrolet, GMC and Pontiac vehicles on eBay with dealer pricing. Consumers could then start the buying process buy negotiating prices and other things through the “Make an Offer” or “Buy it Now” option.

GM had been confident that it would be a successful program and that it would roll it out nationwide.

According to Edmunds.com analysts, the “Buy it Now” pricing on GM eBay was found to be 2 percent higher than Edmunds.com’s True Market Value price.

GM joined forced with the world’s best auction site, eBay, in hopes that Californians would buy GM vehicles online. As of August 21, GM had listed a total of 16,228 cars on eBay, with 45 selling on the site. Well, it is now September and GM has only sold a total of 50 vehicles through the site.

However, the two have agreed to extend the testing period through September, reports Automotive News. The site, http://gm.ebay.com launched on August 11 and was scheduled to complete the testing period on September 8.

GM said that the new program is boosting awareness of GM vehicles. GM says about 4,000 eBay shoppers entered into negotiations — either online, over the phone or in person — to buy a vehicle. The automaker did not say how many sales resulted from those negotiations.

In the Web 2.0 era, anybody with the slightest bit of business acumen can make money on eBay. There is an exception however; Fritz Henderson. During the first nine days of GM’s foray into the world of eBay sales, 16,228 cars had been listed on the site, with 45 selling on the site.

“I’ve sold some vehicles to people that saw the vehicles on eBay, but they didn’t buy them on eBay,” Mark Borjan, owner of Paso Robles, Calif. based Golden Hills Auto Center, told Automotive News. ”They called, came in and bought them.”

Leads and brand awareness are crucial to the retail auto-sales game, and if nothing else, the eBay arrangement is generating that. The GM arrangement is not run like a regular ebay auction. Actually, its not run like any auction, as dealers list a price where customers have the option to “Buy It Now”, or submit an offer which the dealer is free to reject.

According to research done by Edmunds, the number of car shoppers using ebay to research GM prices was 10% higher in California than any other state. This is undoubtedly a good thing as GM only has a 13% share of the California market, a rather weak position when compared to their 19.6% share of the national market.

General Motors Company (we have to get used to saying that now) is not wasting anytime and is getting right down to work.  The new GM said today that its dealers will begin testing a partnership with eBay Inc in California that will allow customers to bid on new vehicles or buy them at a “Buy it Now” price.

“We’ll be testing this and other ideas with our dealers over the next few weeks and hope to expand and build upon them in the coming months,” said Fritz. “Experiments are experiments … You don’t roll them out until you figure out if they work. We are excited about it, but I wouldn’t commit to rolling it out more broadly until we find out if it’s successful.”

The U.S. auto industry has had some difficult time doing well in the West Coast since it has been dominated by import brands over the past several years.

The 2007 SSC Ultimate Aero, the world’s fastest production car with a top speed of 257 mph, is on the auction block at eBay Motors. For an auction as exclusive as this, one must be pre-approved to even bid on the item.

The Ultimate Aero is powered by a 1183-hp engine with a peak torque of 1094 lb-ft, the SSC Ultimate Aero does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 257mph.

This 2007 SSC Ultimate Aero is the same exact model used to break the World Production Speed Record and has a total of 1,345 miles on it – now that’s exclusive. The current bid stands at $425,100 with a total of 6 bids.

Yes, the economy is very depressing – but is depressing enough for people to buy Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster replica – apparently, this eBay seller thinks so.

Seen here is Murcielago Roadster replica that is based on Pontiac Solstice. With 325-hp under the hood, the seller claims that the car can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds. Honestly, to us it looks nothing like a Murcielago – but we’ll leave it up to you to decide.

The starting bid comes in at $63,244 (enough of a reason to pass this up) with currently 0 bids on the auction. We highly doubt this will sell and we’re guessing the seller does as well, which is why he added two videos showing off the car.
