If you spend time driving home while listening to the FM radio, you’ve most likely heard of Justin Bieber, a new teen idol that is signed to Usher’s label. Bieber is currently spending 48 hours with P. Diddy who has just promised him his $200,000 Lamborghini Gallardo when he turns 16.

Right now a little part of us wishes we were Bieber – wait, no we don’t.

During last night’s The Tonight Show, FoMoCo decided to tempt Conan O’Brien’s love and affection for his green 1992 Ford Taurus SHO with the new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO.

During the 7 minute skit O’Brien, who is feels that there could never be a better performance sedan than his 1992 Taurus SHO, is tempted by Amy Marentic, Ford’s Group marketing manger for Taurus, who teaches O’Brien a thing or two about the 2010Taurus SHO.

To say the least, O’Brien is not impressed and still loves his 1992 SHO.

A national audience saw firsthand whether O’Brien’s steadfast love for his Jewel green SHO could be tempted with this latest sexy head-turner from Ford.

O’Brien’s second-generation ‘Super High Output’ Taurus has been the focus of the late night comedian’s skits many times including during O’Brien’s premier as host of “The Tonight Show” earlier this year.

The allure of “the sleeper” sedan
Introduced in 1989, Taurus SHO was conceived as a discreet performance-oriented sports sedan, ideally suited to the automotive enthusiast needing the room and capability of a four-door full-size car. Known and loved for its high performance and unassuming exterior, Ford Taurus SHO was launched in limited production through 1999, with more than 100,000 were sold.

Two key factors made the original Taurus SHO sedan a favorite of the automotive cognoscenti, right out of the gate. The critical element, a Yamaha-developed 3.0-liter V-6 engine delivering 220 horsepower, delivered thrust through a five-speed manual transmission. The SHO twist was design subtlety.

2010 Taurus SHO off to a strong start
Launched this past summer, the all-new Taurus including the Taurus SHO is off to a strong start and even bucked the industry trend in September with sales 60 percent higher than a year ago.

The Taurus debuted to rave reviews from the automotive press, and early customer demand validates the critical acclaim. Customers are especially interested in the Taurus SHO, achieving higher-than-expected take rates of 20 percent of the overall Taurus mix.

The foundation of the new 2010 Taurus SHO is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine. This advanced powerplant generates an estimated 365 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,500 rpm, resulting in significantly improved power, torque and fuel economy compared with larger, normally aspirated engines. This also is Ford’s most powerful EcoBoost engine.

A key element of the authentic SHO formula is the subtlety of its unique exterior design cues.
Features include sporty premium painted wheels, wrapped in standard low-profile 19-inch Goodyear Eagle or optional 20-inch Michelin high-performance tires, a decklid-mounted spoiler and twin chrome exhaust tips.

Would you rather have English pop star Cheryl Cole or Megan Fox in your passenger seat? Also, would you rather drive a Bugatti Veyron or an Aston Martin One-77? That was the question a poll by MPH Prestige & Performance Motor Show asked 13,000 visitors to MSN Cars.

The result? Men fantasize about driving a Bugatti Veyron with Cheryl Cole more than any other vehicle or woman – including Megan Fox and an Aston Martin One-77.

Cole acquired 24 percent of the “perfect passenger” vote, while Megan Fox came in second with 21 percent. Jessica Alba came in 3rd with 12 percent followed by Jennifer Aniston with 11 percent, Beyoncé Knowles with 8 percent and Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima with 3 percent.

The Bugatti Veyron topped the “perfect car” list with 36 percent followed by Aston Martin’s One-77 with 29 percent. Ferrari’s California trailed behind with 9 percent followed by the Pagani Zonda R with 8 percent, Alfa 8C Spider with 7 percent and Koenigsegg CCX 7 percent.

All we have to say is that if all automakers did their wind-tunnel tests like BMW – we’d have something to look forward to besides just the official presentation of the car.

Model and TV presenter Sylvie van der Vaart stopped by BMW for a wind tunnel stopped in Munich to have some fun and for a little photo shoot where she sat in a 1987 open-top BMW 3-Series Convertible and a 2009 BMW 3-Series Convertible.

Comparing her experience in the new 3-Series Convertible to the new old one, van de Vaart said: ”What a difference from the older model! I couldn’t feel the wind at all – I even had to check to see if they’d even turned it on.”

Hairdo test in the new BMW wind tunnel

Munich. The new BMW wind tunnel in the north of Munich: a place that can even surprise the much-travelled Sylvie van der Vaart.

She sits in a 1987 open-top BMW 3 Series Convertible, authentically dressed in an eighties-style Bordeaux-coloured dress, her hair down and put into perfect shape by a hair specialist. She is slightly nervous before the “test drive”: “I’m a little on edge because I’m not sure exactly what’s going to happen with all this wind. But BMW has assured me that it’s all safe.” The huge rotor of the wind tunnel slowly starts to turn, from the control centre you can see a gentle breath of air slowly but surely developing into a stiff breeze at 60 km/h. After this windy test drive, the result is clear: the hairstylist on the set is not too happy since the only thing the tousled mane of model and TV presenter Sylvie van der Vaart would be good for is an eighties music video.

The outfit and hair are restyled and we shoot forward into the year 2009: a current 3 Series Convertible now gleams in the light of the wind tunnel. Sylvie van der Vaart appears with a business look – an elegant beige-coloured trouser suit. She smiles into the camera and waxes lyrical about open-top driving in Madrid, where she lives. “Open-top motoring is just the thing for me!” says the 31-year-old. Waiting at the wheel in the wind tunnel, she once again waits in suspense for the next test run as the huge rotors start to move. The improved aerodynamics of the vehicle with reduced air turbulence in the interior is clearly visible to all those on the set. The long, straight hairstyle hardly moves a millimetre. Sylvie van der Vaart smiles as she steps out of the car: “What a difference from the older model! I couldn’t feel the wind at all – I even had to check to see if they’d even turned it on.”

Shortly after the shoot in Munich, van de Vaart was diagnosed with cancer at an early stage and successfully treated. She quickly started working again – both in the photo studio and on television. “Discipline is very important in my line of work,” she says. She quickly got used to wearing a wig, too – and continues to drive open top.

The hairdo experiment illustrates 22 years of progress in automobile development. Facilities such as the new Aerodynamic Test Centre enable engineers of the BMW Group to improve aerodynamics at an early stage of the development process so as to make a contribution to increasingly efficient vehicles. In addition to lightweight construction and drivetrain, aerodynamics has a key role to play in automobiles of the future. Sophisticated aerodynamics is one of the key variables in the BMW Groups EfficientDynamics approach. BMW is a forerunner within the entire automotive industry in terms of the reduction of CO2 emissions. In the EU, the BMW Group’s new car fleet of 2008 has an average CO2 emission level of 156 grams per kilometre – well below that of other premium manufacturers.

If you didn’t already know, there is indeed an A-Team movie in the works and this is our first look at the official cast that will be playing our favorite characters. Bradley Cooper (who was seen in The Hangover) will play Face while UFC’s Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will play Mr. T as B.A. Baracus. Shartlo Copley will play Murdoch while Liam Neeson will lead the team as Hannibal.

You’re probably wondering what The A-Team has to do with cars. Well the black, red and metallic gray GMC Vandura van the A-Team used has become a pop culture icon. We’re looking forward to see what GMC came up with.

The A-Team is scheduled to hit theaters on June 11, 2010.

Michael Bay has confirmed that the third part of his Transformers series will be released on July 1, 2011.

“P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back,” Michael Bay said on his website. “I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep.”

Not plot details are available as of yet – but we’re really hoping that it’ll be better than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Last week Ford announced that it will be providing Jay Leno with a battery electric version of the Ford Focus sedan for his new self-named show. Celebrities visiting Jay Leno on the show will drive the Focus BEV as they compete in the “Green Car Challenge” segment of the show and will compete for best track times.

USAToday is reporting that the first celebrity behind the wheel of the battery electric Focus will be Drew Barrymore.

The electric Focus has the ability travel 100 miles on a single charge of its lithium-ion batteries. It will take 6 hours to recharge the electric Focus at 220 volts. A production version of the car will hit showrooms sometime in 2012.

During tough economic times where American citizens are being forced to give up their houses and cars, famous rapper Ludacris (Christopher Brian Bridges) decided to come to the rescue. During a recent appearance on a local radio in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, Ludacris announced that if listeners were able to pay the taxes, registration, tags and insurance, they can have a free car through his nonprofit Ludacris Foundation.

“This is Ludacris, and I’m giving away 20 free cars,” the rapper said on the radio.

Those interested in winning had to write a 300 word essay on why they deserved a new car.

Nearly 4,000 individuals submitted essays. Ludacris and his mother, Roberta Shields, who heads up his foundation, helped give away the cars yesterday. Winners were picked based on which stories they found most compelling and made phone calls and interviewed people who were friends/families of the finalists.

Former Tonight Show host Jay Leno has revealed some tidbits about his new primetime show scheduled to debut later this fall. Taking a page for Top Gear, the show will features a segment called “Green Car Challenge” that will put celebrities against each other in alternative fuel cars.

You can see who is faster, Shaquille O’Neal or Cameron Diaz,” Leno said.

The report by Live Feed says that NBC has built a test track outside the studio for the segment of the new show. What’s the overall theme of the new show? We’ll find out later this fall.

I live for Top Gear. Bullock also said that she would love to be one of the Stars in a Reasonably Priced Car. “I want to do it. I saw Helen Mirren and she rocked it. Nurburgring Insurance protects those who want to lap Nordschleife: Nurburgmotorsport is offering a package to protect those who want to lap the Ring’s Nordschleife. We’ve been quite busy wrapping up our week with the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS (it goes back tomorrow and we’re really depressed). Nonetheless, the show must go on and it’s now time for our daily (give or take a day here and there) Miscellaneous Thoughts post.

Megan Fox cleaned Michael Bay’s Ferrari for Transformers audition: Director Michael Bay and actress Megan Fox have been on a fairly rocky relationship recently. In a recent interview, Fox said that Bay’s Transformers sequel was “not a movie about acting.” Bay eventually hit back saying Fox was “ridiculous” and said she “had some growing up to do.” Making it just a little more spicy, U.K. broadcaster Jason Solomons reported that Fox was forced to wash Bay’s Ferrari when she auditioned for her breakthrough role in Transformers. ”He made her wash his Ferrari while he filmed her,” Solomons said. When questioned, Fox said that she “didn’t know what had happened to that footage.”  When Solomons asked Bay, he said :”Er, I don’t know where it is either.” I think we have the footage somewhere around our office. – SFGate

After months and months of waiting, the sequel for Transformers is finally here. We were one of the many geeks to go watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning, where it made $16 million on the midnight showings alone.

The movie ended up grossing more than $55 million, scoring the best opening ever for a Wednesday release at the box office. The previous record was held by “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” which made $44.2 million in its opening-day.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is playing in more than 4,200 theaters in the United States.

Our two cents: We (I’m speaking for the rest of the egmCarTech team as well)  liked the first one better and if you’re a true Transformers fan (meaning it’s all about Autobots vs. Decepticons) you’ll love the second one as well. If you’re looking to watch a movie with an outstanding story line and amazing acting – don’t hold your breath. Nonetheless, it’s the heart-pumping action that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start-to-finish.

Slowing down or even stopping passerbys in their tracks is nothing new to Brad Pitt. Using Pitt’s popularity to their advantage, the Russian traffic police is now using cutouts of the Hollywood’s stars face to slow down drivers in the most dangerous intersection in the city of Omsk.

Traffic accidents in Russia are amongst the highest in Europe. The move is the latest effort by authorities to put a stop to their endless battle against speeding.

“The campaign seems to be working.” says Dimtry Ziryanov, a local official who came up with the idea. Pitt is “kind of like a colleague for us.”
