Refresher: Weighing in at 2,811 pounds, the 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder is powered by a 3.4L 6-cylinder engine with direct fuel-injection making 320-hp. Mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission and the Sports Chrono package, the Boxster Spyder goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 166 mph with the roof open.

Kap is out test-driving the new 2010 Nissan Leaf EV in Los Angeles today but in the mean time Nissan has posted some new images of its new electric-car. You can check out Kap’s first drive impressions when the event is over, so for now, enjoy some new high-res images.

Nissan said that it expects production capacity to reach 200,000 units a year by 2012.  The first couple of units will be produced at the company’s Oppama, Japan. Additional capacity planned for Nissan’s new plant in Smyrna, Tennessee

Refresher: Power comes from a 107-hp electric-motor that runs on power supplied by lithium ion cells. On a full-charge, the Nissan LEAF allows for a driving range of 100 miles with a top speed of 87 mph. A full charge takes up to 8 hours on a standard 200V outlet. Buyers can opt for the DC 50kW quick-charger, which recharges the battery up to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.

Refresher: Inspired by the sporty 1980s Corolla AE86, the production version of the FT-86 is reported to be powered by a 200-hp 2.0L boxer Subaru engine sending power to the rear-wheels. Production is reported to start in 2011 with prices starting above $20,000.

Refresher: Power comes from a 3.8L V8 twin-turbo engine producing around 600-hp mated to a 7-speed Seamless Shift dual-clutch gearbox (SSG). 0 to 60 mph is expected to come in the low 3 second range with a top seed of more than 200 mph. Sales begin in early 2011.

Late last night we saw a couple of images of the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG leak on to the Internet. Well as we promised, we now have a whole bunch of high-res photos for all your desktop and drooling needs. Besides showing you these high-res photos, there is not anything new to report – but we’ll give you the basic refresher anyway.

Refresher: Power comes from a 6.2L V8 making 563-hp with a maximum torque of 479 lb-ft of torque. Mated to an E-SELECT system that controls the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, the SLS AMG can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds (with the Race Start launch control system) with a top speed of 196 mph.

One of the most significant debuts for us at next month’s 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show will be the new Ferrari 458 Italia. Making our Thursday morning a little bit better, Ferrari has just dropped a bunch of additional images of the new 458 Italia in real-world settings and some interior shots.

Ferrari also said that enthusiasts can find out more about the car on the updated Ferrari website.

Refresher: Power comes from a mid-rear mounted 4.5L V8 making 570-hp at 9,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. Mated to a dual-clutch 7-speed F1 gearbox, 0 to 62 mph comes in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of over 202 mph.

Maranello, 27 August 2009 – In the run-up to the official unveiling of the Ferrari 458 Italia at the Frankfurt Motor Show on the 15th of September, enthusiasts can find out more about the car on www.ferrari.com. There they will find the first photographs of the 458 Italia’s interior and of the steering wheel and instrument binnacle which represent a significant step forward in the concept of the ergonomic interface between driver and car.

In fact the main commands are now grouped on the steering wheel, the secondary commands are handily set in two satellite pods either side of the dash and there are now comprehensive instrument displays on the panel ahead of the driver. These solutions represent an important safety aspect, enabling the driver to concentrate fully on driving. Similarly this layout ensures maximum control of the car in highperformance driving, an uncompromising approach that derives directly from Ferrari’s F1 experience.

Working closely with the Ferrari Styling Centre, the engineers have thus reinterpreted the positioning of the major commands to provide a truly driver-oriented cockpit. All steering-column mounted stalks have been eliminated, with the indicators, full beam, flash and windscreen wiper functions now being activated by buttons on the steering wheel boss. The button to select the shock absorber setting is now positioned next to the ‘Engine start’ button where it falls readily to hand. Behind the wheel are a number of secondary functions, such as the stereo, while the gearbox paddles are now longer making shifts even easier from any steering angle.

The right-hand satellite pod on the dash incorporates controls for the infotainment, the Bluetooth connection, sat-nav, digital speedo and rear parking camera. Clustered on the left-hand satellite pod instead are the optional cruise control, buttons for choosing the video setting of the left-hand dash TFT screen and the on-board computer interface. The latter controls the trip computer, the Vehicle Dynamic Assistance and the display of the car’s set-up.

The Vehicle Dynamic Assistance monitors the operating parameters of the most important areas of the car – engine/gearbox, tyres and brakes. The VDA is enabled in the following manettino settings – Race, CT off and CST off – and provides visual confirmation of the status of each component based on an algorithm from parameters reading lateral and longitudinal acceleration, revs and speed. This enables the driver to assess the ideal operating conditions for the car. There are three status settings: WARM-UP (operating temperature too low), GO (ideal operating conditions) and OVER (one or more components are no longer at their optimum level and need cooling).

Earlier this morning we saw our first look at Mini’s new Coupe Concept, scheduled to make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. At the time we were only able to show you some studio shots; however, Mini has now released a bunch of real-world shots of the Mini Coupe Concept in action along with some interior shots.

Refresher: Mini says that the Coupe Concept is designed to accommodate the 1.6L twin-scroll turbocharged unit from Mini John Cooper Works. The engine produces 211-hp with a maximum torque of 192 lb-ft. The Mini Coupe Concept also follows BMW’s EfficientDynamics strategy to offer improved fuel-economy. Mini says that the Coupe Concept shows an “unusually attractive vision of how the model family may well develop in future.”

The 248-hp Tesla Roadster is an already expensive vehicle with pricing starting at $101,500. However, it allows you to go from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, is 100 percent electric and allows you to travel 244 miles before you need to plug it in.

What’s better than a Tesla Roadster? A Tesla Roadster Sport. The “Sport” adds a total of 288-hp to the Tesla Roadster, increased winding density for lower resistance and higher peak torque, an adjustable suspension, Yokohama A048 Ultra high-performance tires and the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

Based on Tesla’s Roadster 2, the Tesla Roadster Sport will run you an additional $19,500 for a total of $128,500. Worth it? Of course – if you have close to an extra $20,000 laying around under your mattress.

We’re not fans of low-res images – at all – so you can probably understand how disappointed we were when Noble released its new M600 yesterday with a bunch of 583px x 437px images.

To satisfy our needs and your desktop wallpaper needs, Noble has finally released high-res images of the Noble M600, which will make its world debut next month at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Refresher: Power comes from a mid-mounted Volvo 4.4L V8 with two turbochargers allowing for up to 650-hp. Power is driven to the rear-wheels via a 6-speed Graziano manual gearbox. 0 to 62 mph comes in just 3.0 seconds with a top speed of more than 225 mph.

Noble M600:

Tesla has finally released some new images of its new Model S sedan hanging out in the rear world. The images show Tesla’s chief designer Franz Von Holzhausen whipping the electric-sedan around the track.

Tesla says that so far, it has received more than 1,000 orders for the Tesla Model S sedan.

Refresher: The Tesla Model S can be recharged from any 120v, 208v or 240v outlet. Depending on which Model S trim-level you chose, the all-electric sedan will provide you with a total range of 160, 230 or 300 miles per charge. 0 to 60 comes in just 5.6 seconds with a top speed that is limited to 130 mph. Pricing is expected to come in at $49,900 after a federal tax credit of $7,500. The $5,000 reservation fee is refundable.

Tesla Model S:

Jaguar has released additional images of its new 2010 Jaguar XJ, which will go on sale in the U.S. in December 2009 with prices starting at  $72,500.

Engine choices on the XJ will include a 385-hp 5.0L naturally aspirated V8, a 470-hp 5.0L supercharged V8 and a 510-hp 5.0L supercharged V8.

When the Aston Martin DBS Volante made its debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, Aston released only a couple of studio shots. In between, the Aston Martin Rapide and the Aston Martin Cygnet, the folks at Gaydon have found a little time to take some real-life shots of the DBS Volante.

Refresher: Power comes from the same 6.0L V12 from the DBS Coupe producing 510-hp and a maximum torque of 420 lb-ft. 0 to 62 mph time of 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 191 mph. The engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or the Touchtronic 2 6-speed gearbox with electronic shift-by-wire control system. The motorized retractable fabric roof comes down in 14 seconds and can be activated at speeds of up to 30 mph at the touch of a button.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder:

That’s right people; Ferrari has been kind enough to drop a bunch of new images of the harder, meaner 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE - Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione. The HGTE package for the 599 GTB Fiorano offers a more sportier and improved handling thanks to stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar along with calibration settings for the magnetorheological shock absorbers.

Other performance enhancing features include lowered ride height, a modified F1 gearbox for faster shifts, improved acceleration and a new exhaust silencer with more thrilling sound.

Ferrari’s HGTE package also offers some visual enhancements including carbon fiber touches on the exterior and interior and 20-inch wheels, which are available with a new diamond-cut and matte-silver finish.

Fiat has already confirmed that its 500 minicar will come to the United States in 2011. However, it has yet to confirm whether or not the Fiat 500C, the convertible version of the 500, will come to the stateside.

Until Sergio Marchionne makes a decision, we can enjoy some new images of the Fiat 500C along with a new video of the drop-top minicar in action.

2009 Fiat 500C:

The first (unit #001) of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is being put up for sale at a dealership in Beverly Hills for a whopping price tag of $2.4 million. The first unit was auctioned off for $3.2 million while 50 were pre-sold to loyal Bugatti owners. The #001 drop-top Veyron has just 400 miles on it.

Obviously the seller is looking to make some extra cash on the new fun-in-the-sun Veyron, of which Bugatti will only produce 300 units of with prices starting around $1.9 million.

Refresher: Power comes from the W16 1001 horsepower engine that allows for a top speed of 253mph with the top closed and 190mph with the roof off. With the folding roof in place top speed is limited to a very low 81mph.
