Fiat will produce Chrysler vehicles at Bertone plant in Italy

Last month, Fiat won approval to purchase Carrozzeria Bertone. The automaker will now use the Bertone plant in Italy to build Chryslers, according to Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne.

Fiat SpA’s bid for Carrozzeria Bertone was approved Thursday by the Italian government. Fiat won against other bidders including entrepreneurs Gianmario Rossignolo and Domenico Reviglio, Chinese automaker FAW Group Corp. and an unnamed Spanish group.

It was reported last week that Fiat has made a non-binding offer to buy struggling Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Bertone. According to AutoCar, Fiat has no interest in saving the Bertone name or history.
