The Aston One-77 was initially conceptualized in October 2007 with the first unit of a limited 77 rolling off the assembly line in late 2010. Each One-77 takes approximately 2,700 man hours to assemble – built by a dedicated team of 27 technicians.

The Paul Ricard Circuit is a motorsport race track built at Le Castellet, near Marseille, France, in 1969 with finance from the eccentric drinks magnate Paul Ricard. Apparently, Ricard’s main goal was to built the circuit with the challenge of figuring out what would it be like to build a highway.

While Aston Martin has yet to officially announce that it has started delivering the most expensive Aston ever, the One-77, pictures on the Internet show that the British supercar maker has started the delivery the process.

What you’re looking at are pictures of the first Aston Martin One-77 that was delivered to a man in Monte Carlo. The car was spotted hanging outside Hotel de Paris. No idea who this lucky chap is, but we’re certainly jealous.

Interestingly enough, the VIN number badge shows the company’s name as ‘Aston Martin Lagonda.’

We’ve heard reports before that Aston Martin has sold all the 77 units of the limited One-77 supercar – well, that might not be the case after all. According to a report by Inside Line, Aston Martin has sold 60 units of One-77 so far at $1.87 million plus tax a piece.

That means we still have 17 units left to snatch up.

Aston Martin said that committing close to $2 million to a One-77, most buyers are having no problem also buying the Toyota iQ based Aston Martin Cygnet to go along with their purchase. Most One-77 buyers are purchasing the Cygnet in a matching color to their One-77.

Recent spy shots of the Aston Martin One-77 circling the Nurburgring show some interesting shots… and by interesting shots – we don’t mean of the car hitting up the famous Nordschleife track. Apparently spies caught the words “Dirty Shirley” on the back of the One-77 prototype while it was undergoing high-speed testing.

While we have no clue what “Dirty Shirley” means, sources say that the etching on the back of the prototype got three Aston Martin employees fired.

The Aston Martin One-77 has been a pretty successful limited edition vehicle for the automaker with a Middle East buyer so interested in the car that he bought 10 units. With the success of the One-77, its is now reported that Aston Martin is working on another limited edition Aston Martin by the name of “Super Sport.”

The model is being developed with the help of Star Electric Cars France, a company that is known for building electric golf carts that resemble Hummers, Cadillacs and Bentleys. The design of the Aston Martin Super Sport will be inspired by the DB9 but will be much more aggressive and will feature carbon fiber bodywork.

Power is rumored to come from a mid-mounted 5.4L twin-turbo V8 that will make anywhere between 800 to 950-hp. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a paddle-shift automatic available as an option.

Production is reported to be limited to 8 units with prices starting around €7,500,000 ($9,630,140 USD).

We’re not sure how many of the 77 units of the One-77 Aston has sold but it was recently reported that some rich guy in the Middle East put in a order for ten units.

Production of the 77 limited-production run of the Aston Martin One-77 is underway and while we still don’t know for sure how many Aston has sold (it was reportedly sold out last year), one customer in the Middle East has purchased ten units. Yes, you read that right – 10 units at a price of $1.5 million for each One-77.

Why so many? According to reports from European media, the Middle East buyer want to purchase 10 units for his family. However, he gave Aston Martin one major condition – they have to have all 10 units completed by September 2010 and even though the production schedule has been set, Aston will abide by his stipulation. Why? Well, he transferred a total of $17 million to Aston as an incentive.

Of course, by now a lot of you are wishing that you were a part of his family.

Just before 2010 came around, Aston Martin was wrapping up some of its testing on the One-77 prototype. In one test, the new Aston Martin One-77 was able to hit a top speed of 220 mph in dry but windy conditions. Aston has now released a video of some driving footage from that day – however, they never show the car hitting 220 mph.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the Aston Martin One-77; however, Aston announced today that during testing, the One-77 surpassed “predictions and comfortably breaking the 200mph mark.” Aston said that during a series of test runs, the One-77 hit a top speed of 220.007 mph in dry but windy conditions.

Aston says that it will continue testing dynamics on the One-77 into 2010 and expects deliveries of the limited 77 units to start in mid-2010.

One-77 closes on new Aston Martin record

Gaydon, Tuesday 22 December. Aston Martin”s One-77 supercar has moved closer to setting a new all-time record for the British marque in initial high speed testing after surpassing all predictions and comfortably breaking the 200mph mark.

The One-77 is currently undergoing a stringent development process ahead of planned launch in 2010 with high speed testing taking place at a top secret proving ground in southern Europe. In a series of test runs completed last week the One-77 exceeded original expectations and recorded a 220.007mph (354.86kmh) top speed in dry but windy conditions under the guidance of the Aston Martin engineering team. Dynamic testing is now scheduled to continue into the New Year.

Powered by a new Aston Martin 7.3 litre V12 engine, the One-77 is engineered to deliver breathtaking levels of power and performance. The dramatically styled two-door, two-seat sports coupe is based on an innovative new carbon fibre monocoque body structure and adopts new active aerodynamic technology.

The One-77 is the ultimate expression of what Aston Martin stands for and will combine modern technology and design with craftsmanship and ultimate exclusivity to create the world”s most desirable automotive art form.

As name suggests, production is limited up to a maximum of 77 individually numbered examples, with deliveries expected to commence in mid-2010.

Would you rather have English pop star Cheryl Cole or Megan Fox in your passenger seat? Also, would you rather drive a Bugatti Veyron or an Aston Martin One-77? That was the question a poll by MPH Prestige & Performance Motor Show asked 13,000 visitors to MSN Cars.

The result? Men fantasize about driving a Bugatti Veyron with Cheryl Cole more than any other vehicle or woman – including Megan Fox and an Aston Martin One-77.

Cole acquired 24 percent of the “perfect passenger” vote, while Megan Fox came in second with 21 percent. Jessica Alba came in 3rd with 12 percent followed by Jennifer Aniston with 11 percent, Beyoncé Knowles with 8 percent and Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima with 3 percent.

The Bugatti Veyron topped the “perfect car” list with 36 percent followed by Aston Martin’s One-77 with 29 percent. Ferrari’s California trailed behind with 9 percent followed by the Pagani Zonda R with 8 percent, Alfa 8C Spider with 7 percent and Koenigsegg CCX 7 percent.

Aston Martin is building a pre-production version of the One-77 supercar that will take on the Nurburgring, reports AutoCar. Sources say that the unit you see at auto shows is just a running prototype and the next stage of the car’s development is to build a pre-production version for fine tuning at the Nurburgring, where Aston Martin has a facility.

Chris Porritt, One-77 program manager, said that the One-77 will go into production in the spring of 2010 with the first customer deliveries to begin in mid-2010.

Porritt said that 40 confirmed orders have been taken (so it’s apparently not sold out), each of which will take the folks at Gaydon three and a half months to build.

Dr. Ulrich Bez has the job every auto enthusiast can only dream of – being CEO of Aston Martin. Bez, 66, received his doctorate in engineering from the University of Stuttgart, but had to create a resume with other impressive credentials than that to become the boss of Aston.

He has previously held positions at Porsche, BMW and Daewoo Motors where he’s been responsible for product design and development. Even standing next to Bez is a privilege in itself (and we say that only because he’s the main man behind the idea of the Aston Martin One-77).

The folks over at AutoCar recently had the lucky opportunity to interview Bez about the new Aston Martin One-77 and even had him fire it up for the cameras. Of course, AutoCar did what every other auto journalist would do after hearing the sound coming from the 700-hp One-77 – they asked Bez if they could drive it. Did Bez say yes or no?
