The Alfa Rome 8C Competizione and the 8C Spider are two of the most beautiful Alfa’s ever created. Throw in Novitec to the mix, and the two become the most powerful and fastest street-legal Alfa Romeos of all time.

The 4.7L V8 engine (taken out of the Maserati GranTurismo V8 by Alfa) has been upgraded to produce 600-hp and 434 lb-ft of torque thanks to a high-tech supercharger system. Newly calibrated mapping for injection and ignition allow a smooth power flow and the ability to go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 189.5 mph. Novitec also added its height-adjustable threaded coil-over suspension.

Visual modification have been kept subtle but there are 3-piece NA3 21-inch wheels. Upon request of the customer, Novitec can personalize the cockpit of the 8C with exclusive appointments made from leather and Alcantara in any color.

Press Release:

The World’s Most Powerful and Fastest Alfa Romeo:

8C Spider with 600-hp Supercharged Engine and a Top Speed of 305 km/h

The most powerful and fastest street-legal Alfa Romeo of all time comes from NOVITEC, the world leader in tuning for the automobiles from Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia. Power output of the Alfa Romeo 8C, Coupe and Spider, jumps to 600 hp / 441 kW thanks to a high-tech supercharger system. Top speed grows to 305 km/h. In addition, the tuner offers a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system, a custom-tailored tire/wheel combination with 21- and 22-inch diameters and a height-adjustable sport suspension.

The limited-edition sports car is based on the technology of the Maserati GT. For this reason NOVITEC adapted a development by sister company NOVITEC TRIDENTE, which specializes in tuning the models carrying the trident emblem, to the 8C. The high-tech supercharger conversion for the 4.7-liter V8 was modified to fit into the space under the hood of the Alfa Romeo 8C.

The supercharger is driven by a cogged-tooth belt directly from the crankshaft and thus breathes more power into the eight-cylinder four-valve engine even at very low engine speeds. Maximum boost pressure is limited to 0.37 bar. The mechanical charging system is rounded out by a water-to-air intercooler with dedicated radiator, and by custom injectors.

Newly calibrated mapping for injection and ignition ensure a potent and harmonious power delivery and clean emissions.

Performance figures are accordingly impressive: The compressor conversion, which sells for EUR 19,900, boosts power output of the 450-hp / 331-kW stock V8 by 150 hp / 110 kW. The maximum rated power output of 600 hp / 441 kW is available at 7,300 rpm. Peak torque jumps to 588 Nm at 5,400 rpm.

This elevates driving performance to a level never before attained by a street-legal Alfa Romeo: the sprint from rest to 100 km/h is shortened to just 3.9 seconds. Top speed increases from standard 290 km/h to 305 km/h.

The optionally available NOVITEC stainless-steel sport exhaust system for the Alfa Romeo 8C benefits more than just power yield. The integrated flap system varies the exhaust note depending on engine speed from sporty to racing-like. The exhaust system with its four tailpipes is designed to perfectly fit into the standard cutouts in the rear apron.

While the body of the 8C Coupe or Spider remains untouched, NOVITEC adds some thrilling highlights to the appearance of the two-seater with three-piece NA3 wheels. To further emphasize the wedge-shape design of the 8C, the specialists chose a staggered combination with 21-inch diameter in front and 22 inches on the rear axle. The alloy wheels feature five double spokes and are available in any desired color. In sizes 9Jx21 and 11.5Jx22 they fill out the available space in the wheel wells perfectly. The matching high-performance tires are supplied by Formula 1 supplier Pirelli in sizes 255/30 ZR 21 and 315/25 ZR 22.

The height-adjustable NOVITEC threaded coil-over suspension is precisely calibrated to these king-sized tires. It allows each driver of the Alfa Romeo to select ride-height and damper rates to suit his or her personal taste.

Upon customer request NOVITEC also personalizes the cockpit of the 8C with exclusive appointments made from the finest leather and Alcantara in any desired color.

According to sources, the 2012 Dodge Viper concept shown to dealers resembled the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione with a Viper face.

“Dealers said they were told the company”s new product committee took one look at the Viper and unanimously approved its production within five minutes,” The Wall Street Journal reported.

The Dodge Viper ended production at Chrysler’s Conner Avenue assembly plant in Detroit on July 1.

Alfa Romeo sold the limited-edition 8C Competizione in select Maserati dealerships throughout North America. A total of 84 coupes and 35 Spiders (convertibles) were sold in 2009 through seven Maserati dealerships.

At this August’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Alfa Romeo will celebrate its 100th year. According to sources, Alfa will unveil something called the 4C, a compact sports car concept.

An insider from Fiat told Automobile that the “8C has been a very successful halo car. What we need next is a more affordable follow-up model that spreads the message over a wider customer base.”

Unlike the 8C Competizione, which was powered by a Ferrari-built engine, the 4C will be powered by a 240-hp 4-cylinder engine mated to a rear-transaxle.

Production of the 4C will most likely be limited to 5,000 rather than 500 units like the 8C. A roadster version is also expected.

Alfa is working on a GTA variant of its much successful 8C Competizione supercar. The model is expected to make its debut next year at the company’s centenary celebration next year.

What can you expect from the 8C GTA? According to AutoExpress, the 8C GTA will see a weight reduction of 150kg (337 lbs) thanks to the use of carbon fiber body panels. Design cues such as a hood vents and an ice-white front bumper should definitely set the 8C GTA apart from its standard sibling.

Power will come from the same 4.7L V8, which will be upgraded to produce a total of 500-hp. 0 to 60 mph will come in less than 4 seconds with a top speed close to 200 mph.

While Alfa Romeo produced 500 units of the 8C Coupe and the 8C Spider, the 8C GTA will see a limited production run of just 100 units.

Alfa Romeo only sent 84 units of the 8C Competizione to the stateside and they were all reported to have been sold out. Apparently that’s not the case. We guess with the credit crunch and the tough economic times, the market for expensive supercars is pretty soft.

After doing some digging, the Inside Line folks found not only one, but three 8C Competizione coupes on eBay Motors. The lowest bid starts at $243,990 in St. Louis. There is a used 8C Competizione with 28 miles in Houston with a “Buy it Now” price tag of $295,000.

While it seems like those two listings have been pulled from eBay (we did the search and couldn’t find them) there is still one in Minneapolis, MN. That 8C has a starting bid of $305,800 and a “Buy it Now” price of $329,995. No bids have been made. Follow the jump for the high-res image gallery of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

Even though Alfa Romeo has delayed their return to the U.S. until 2011, it has delivered its first Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione made for the U.S. to its rightful owner. In fact, three 8Cs were lined up last week at Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, Connecticut as Alfa”s Project Manager, Renzo Barbirato, and the development test driver, Domenico Martino, eagerly awaited the arrival of their first clients to take delivery.

Well known owner of the Pininfarina Ferrari P4/5 Jim Glickenhaus was first to take delivery and had his 8C custom painted in the same color as his unique Ferrari. After Martino walked Jim through the car, and the checkout was done, Jim went for a 15 mile ride through Greenwich county.

Following Glickenhaus’s ceremony, the two other owners arrived to receive individual introductions to their Alfa 8Cs. Out of the total 500 Alfa 8C coupes produce only 80 were allocated for the U.S. and all have been sold out.

Alfa Romeo will be making its return to the U.S. in late 2009 or early 2010 (no official date has been set), but has already sold out its first U.S. model prior to its return. Of the 500 produced only 84 8C Competizione coupes were set aside for the U.S. and all 84 have been accounted for. Next in line is the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider which is also going to have a limited production run of 500 units. Sales in the U.S. will kick off in 2010 but Alfa has not yet said how many it plans on allocating for the U.S.

Following that, Alfa will introduce an exclusive 500-hp Alfa Romeo 8C GTA. Only 100 units are planned to coincide with Alfa’s 100th birthday.

Alfa is also said to be working on a large rear-wheel-drive sedan that will use the chassis of the Jaguar XF. The large sedan will arrive on the market by 2011-2012. Already confirmed is an Alfa compact crossover that will compete with the BMW X3. It will come to European markets by 2010 followed by the U.S. a year later.

Yes, the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is one of the most beautiful cars we’ve ever laid eyes on – and with a 450-hp engine under the hood, the 8C has performance bragging rights. But CEO, Luca de Meo wants something faster and more special. He’s been pushing the executives to approve a special-edition GTA version of the 8C Competizione to celebrate Alfa’s centenary in 2010.

Well it seems like he got what he wanted. The 8C Competizione GTA was recently spotted heading to Nurburgring for some high-speed testing. The GTA version will be 1,450 kg lighter than the standard 8C and will extract an extra 50-hp from the 4.7 V8 for a total of 500-hp.

Alfa Romeo is planning to build only 100 units of the 8C GTA to coincide with Alfa’s 100th birthday.
