JAGUAR NORTH AMERICA ANNOUNCES U.S. PRICING FOR THE NEW 2010 MODEL YEAR XF AND XK LINE UP

JAGUAR NORTH AMERICA ANNOUNCES
U.S. PRICING FOR THE NEW 2010 MODEL YEAR XF AND XK LINE UP

MAHWAH, NJ., February 19, 2009 ““ Jaguar today announced pricing for its 2010 Model Year line up. In January 2009, Jaguar revealed the new 2010 Model Year XF and XK which includes the new XFR, and next generation XKR. Both vehicles are true to the heritage of Jaguar”s legendary performance, delivering a superb balance of dynamic ability and refinement.

The 2010 XF will be priced starting at $52,000 MSRP. The XF Premium, with the new 5.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, will have a base MSRP of $57,000. The new XFR with the 510hp supercharged engine will retail for $80,000 MSRP. Also, taking the details that define luxury to higher standards, the 2010 XF Premium offers a Portfolio Pack for an additional $4,000. The Portfolio Pack offers the most luxurious XF specification, and features the naturally aspirated version of the new 5.0-liter V8.

As for the 2010 XK line up, it will start with a base MSRP of $83,000 (Coupe) and $89,000 (Convertible). The XKR with its 510 horsepower engine will retail for $96,000 (Coupe) MSRP and $102,000 (Convertible) MSRP.

But it is the new powertrain options that are at the heart of the changes for 2010 Model Year. The new AJ-V8 GEN III direct-injection 5.0-liter engines are the most advanced engines Jaguar has ever produced, each offering significant increases in performance and impressive fuel economy. Both deliver more torque and power than the previous generation of engines.

The 2010 Model Year XF and XK models combine effortless high-performance and state-of-the-art powertrains with a new level of advanced technologies, intuitive control and Jaguar”s superbly crafted, new-fashioned luxury interiors. In addition, both models include a number of standard luxury features including navigation, heated front seats and satellite radio.

XF and XFR 2010MY

Contemporary, individual and beautifully crafted, the XF has the soul of a sports car, the style and sophistication of a luxury four-door sedan, and the visual excitement of a coupe.

“The new XF challenges the rules and redefines Jaguar sporting luxury. Our designers and engineers work together to develop elegant, inspired solutions to complex technical challenges. It”s a simple but very effective philosophy and the result is great new products like the XFR,” says Mike O”Driscoll, Managing Director, Jaguar Cars.

2010MY XF At-a-Glance Highlights ““

- The full XF family now includes three trim and equipment levels ““ XF, XF Premium and XFR ““ and a total of three engine options
- New 5.0-liter V8 powertrains. The new XFR introduces the 510hp supercharged 5.0-liter AJ-V8 Gen III engine and adds other dynamic advances to create the quickest and most sporty XF yet

Jaguar announced that during a secret speed trial at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, a Jaguar XFR prototype recorded a top speed of 225.675 mph, making it the fastest Jaguar ever – of course as you can see from the picture the running prototype had some minor aerodynamic and safety modifications to meet the requirements for Bonneville.

Power comes from the same supercharged 5.4L AJ V8 GEN III seen in the production model. Paul Gentilozzi, owner of Rocketsports Racing drove the XFR to its record-breaking run beating Jaguar’s previous speed record of 217.1 mph.

Modifications to the Bonneville model included a remapped ECU, modified air intake and exhaust system and a revised supercharger setting. If you plan on buying the production 510-hp Jaguar XFR that hits dealer ships later this year – don’t plan on topping the electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Just enjoy going from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

The embargo has been broken (by a couple of sites that couldn’t hold it in anymore) on the 2010 Jaguar XFR. That means we can now show you pictures and give you all the details on the powerful pussycat before its Detroit Auto Show debut this weekend.

The 2010 Jaguar XFR carries a powerful 510-hp 5.0L AJ-V8 GEN III engine that is fitted with a 6-generation Roots-type twin vortex (TVS) supercharger. Compared to the current range-topper, the supercharged 4.2L V8, power has been upped by 23 percent and torque has been increased by 12 percent.

A 6-speed transmission transfers all that power to the rear-wheels allowing the 2010 XFR to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds (0 to 62 mph in 4.9 secs) with a top speed that is electronically limited to 155 mph. The 2010 Jaguar XFR can go from 50 mph to 70 mph in just 1.9 seconds and can complete the quarter mile run in 13.1 seconds. Not many will worry about fuel-economy when purchasing the 2010 XFR – but if you are one of the few that care about what they pay at the pump, Jaguar says that the XFR will return a fuel-economy of 22.5 mpg UK (that’s 18.8 mpg in the U.S.).

Aside from the engine upgrade, the 2010 Jaguar XFR gets Active Differential Control and Adaptive Dynamics, an electronically controlled differential and suspension system that optimize traction, a faster steering ration and upgraded brakes.

How do you tell the XFR apart from the standard XF? Well, you can just take a look at the hood that has two large nostrils. Other changes include a larger lower girlle, larger air intakes, new side skirts, a new rear-bumper with dual-quad exhausts, new boot lip spoiler, 20-inch Nevis alloy wheels and of course the ‘R’ badge on the back. Inside, the 2010 XFR gets a dark mesh aluminum finish trim with 18×14-way adjustable sports seats with the ‘R’ logo, and red dial-pointers on the speedometer.

The 2010 Jaguar XFR will be offered in eight exterior colors including Ultimate Black, Indigo, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Porcelain, Botanical Green, Kyanite Blue and Salsa. Sales will begin later this year. Stay tuned for pricing and availability details.
