Lewis Hamilton portrait painted with Mobile 1 oil: David Macaluso, an oil painter from the U.S., used the oil that drove Hamilton to his 2008 championship title to paint a portrait of the famous F1 race car driver. The painting was commissioned by Vodafone McLaren’s fuel partner ExxonMobil. Pretty cool. – WCF

The 2010 Cadillac Sport Wagon is one of the 15 products to be launched by GM before 2010 – despite the fact that the General may not survive after mid-2009. The CTS Sport Wagon made its debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and will make its stateside debut later this month at the 2008 LA Auto Show. It is expected to hit dealerships in spring 2009 seeing as there are no more delays.

Power for the entry level model comes from a 3.6L VVT engine that makes 263-hp. The range-topper will carry a 3.6L V6 direct-injection producing 304-hp. Transmission choices include an Aisin 6-speed manual or a Hydra-Matic 6L50 6-speed automatic.

A Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon is also being considered to compete with the BMW M5 and E 63 AMG wagon.

2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon:

While GM may be planning on cutting costs with job cuts and plant closings before it runs out of cash by mid-2009, it has no plans to stop introducing vehicles. The General said that it is still planning to reveal about 15 vehicles in the U.S. alone within the next two years – most notably the Chevrolet Volt.

Speaking of the Chevrolet Volt, GM said it will increase investment for the launch of the plug-in hybrid which will hit markets by Nov. 2010. Still on their way are the Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon, SRX crossover and the Cadillac CTS Coupe. The CTS Coupe and the 2010 Buick LaCrosse were supposed to make their debut at the 2008 LA Auto Show later this month but have been delayed. GM did not say whether the two will make their debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show in January.

The Chevrolet Camaro will still be available for delivery early 2009 followed by the Equinox crossover in late-2009 with the Cruze delayed until late 2010. Saab’s 9-4X crossover is also on its way in 2010.

We still don’t understand the point of high-performance station-wagons but apparently there is a well sought out market for them. A bunch of new Caddys are on the way including the recently revealed 2010 Cadillac Sport Wagon, 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe and the 2010 Cadillac SRX. The latter two will debut in the second-half of 2009 so for right now GM is all about the Cadillac Sport Wagon.

Shown at Pebble Beach this past weekend, the 2010 Cadillac Sport Wagon will come to the U.S. next year with two different powertrain choices. The base model will be powered by a 3.6 liter VVT producing 263-hp while the range-topper will get the 3.6 liter V6 direct-injection producing 304-hp. Europeans will get a 2.0 liter turbodiesel V6 producing 250-hp as well.

According to Cadillac’s product director, John Howell, a V-Series model will most likely be available but the timeline for that is unclear as of right now. That means we’ll see a Caddy wagon powered by the current CTS-V’s 556-hp engine that allows for a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds. The Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon will compete with the BMW M5 wagon and the E 63 AMG wagon.

The first variant (other than the sedan) of the Cadillac CTS made its debut last week – the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon. The Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon was shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this weekend – sales will begin in spring 2009.

GM has passed along two videos of the new wagon with Cadillac’s Global Products Director John Howell and Cadillac’s Global Design Director Clay Dean discussing the wagon’s exterior design and utility.
