ADS-B dual band aviation receiver with built-in GPS/WAAS live traffic/weather:
$285.00

This is a dual band ADS-B receiver capable of relaying live traffic and weather to your portable device. This receiver is handheld, has its own power source, and weighs 10 ounces. Dual antennas pick up both 978mhz and 1090mhz data to transmit TIS-B, FIS-B, and 1090ES to your iPad, iPhone or Android based device via the unit's own WiFi. This allows you to see ADS-B traffic position, altitude, and direction displayed as you fly. Live weather (FIS-B) is displayed as a NEXRAD overlay that updates at twice the rate of XM weather. FIS-B info also includes METARs, TAFs, TFRs, AIRMETs, SIGMETS, PIREPs, etc. All of this information is received by our unit and relayed to your moving map display, and is completely wireless.
The unit has a 3D printed case, a 6000mah rechargeable battery, comes with both standard antennas and 5dBi high gain antennas. The case is vented and incorporates a cooling fan to keep the unit stable and reliable in hot cockpits. A discrete red power light visible through the vents indicates the unit is online without being too bright and distracting at night. The included high gain antennas allow extra range for use on long cross countries through remote areas, and the 6000mah battery keeps the unit functioning for hours without need for recharging, and will charge with standard micro USB phone charger. The battery can also charge your phone or tablet via USB port while simultaneously powering the ADS-B unit if you forget your charger, and it even has a built in flashlight.
This unit is designed, assembled, and ops checkedin Wichita, KS (Air Capital of the World)by aircraft mechanics who are also pilots . This ADS-B receiver comes ready to use out of the box with no complex setup or endless fiddling. Connect the power, connect your device to the receiver's WiFi and away you go.

FAQs
Does this unit support synthetic vision? Synthetic Vision is a function of your Electronic Flight Bag software in your device, so this all depends; if your EFB supports ADS-B traffic displayed in synthetic vision mode, then yes.
Does this unit support AHRS?No, this unit does not support AHRS at this time, further developments may lead into AHRS support for certain EFB applications in later revisions.
Does this unit have internal GPS?Internal GPS/WAAS is included in this model. This chip uses GPS/WAAS for your aircraft positional data on the moving map and relays this to your EFB. This gives more accurate positional info when displaying traffic, and can be used for GPS navigation with your EFB. We have tested this unit using GPS equipped Android phones and iPads and the traffic positional data functions normally. This unit only receives ADS-B, and traffic positional data is based off the 978 towers and 1090ES transponders of the reporting aircraft. Your EFB application will display traffic position based on your present GPS location.
How do I connect the device in order to use it?Simply plug in the battery connector to the unit, and the receiver will power on and boot. Connect to the receiver's WiFi network on your tablet or phone, and enable ADS-B in your EFB application (procedure varies with type of program). This unit functions as a peripheral, and only needs to be powered on to start functioning. You can also connect more than one device to the receiver's WiFi, so your entire flight crew and passengers can monitor traffic and weather info from their own EFB.
Does this unit transmit ADS-B as well? No, this unit is not a TSO'd transponder, and only functions as ADS-B in on BOTH available frequencies.
Is this unit repairable and upgradeable?Yes. Software can be updated and individual components can be replaced and added as required. Software changes are not as common with this as with other devices, this unit does not require software updates at specific intervals in order to stay functional. If the occasion should rise that you need the unit repaired (due to unforeseen acts of gravity or a diety), I am available for repair services. If you would like to upgrade your unit for internal GPS/WAAS, AHRS, or other options as they become available, I also offer upgrade services.
