Infiniti M Hybrid coming to the U.S. in 2010

Nissan’s first true hybrid-system will be seen next year in a hybrid model of the Infiniti M, reports Nikkei. Currently, Nissan buys hybrid systems from Toyota for its Nissan Altima Hybrid.

According to the report, Nissan is working on different kind of battery than its rival Toyota and Honda. Official executive sources say that the battery provides quicker and more power. It was reported last week that the 3.7L V6 mated to a electric-hybrid system seen on the Infiniti Essence will make its debut in the next-generation Infiniti M. That engine runs on lithium-ion batteries.

Nikkei said that Nissan plans to expand hybrid offerings to other luxury models and sports cars.
