The Porsche Panamera is the subject of yet another tuning project. This time, Edo Competition is boasting a 700hp version of the four-door.

Upgrades to the turbochargers, exhaust manifold, catalytic converters, air filters, and ECU combine to make the 150hp gain, along with an additional 96 lb-ft of torque. This puts the total power output at 700 horsepower and 649 lb-ft of torque, giving the Panamera a 0-62 mph time of just 3.5 seconds, a .2 second shave off the stock version, with a top speed of 211mph.

Check out more news on the Porsche Panamera.

Edo also dropped the body by 30mm all around, and sticking it to the pavement is a set of 22-inch carbon-fiber finish wheels, wrapped in a wider set of rubber.

In addition, Edo Competition is offering plenty of interior upgrade options for the Porsche, and an exterior package.

Car and Driver loves doing special features. So they’re back with their latest one for the 2012-year: the annual Lightning Lap. The competition is to compare some of the most critically acclaimed cars as of recent.

Taking place at Virginia’s International Raceway, the C/D team will compare a series of cars organized in various price classes and see who’s the fastest. The diversity includes and are not limited to the latest Volkswagen Jetta GLI, the Corvette ZR1, and for the first time, SUVs like the BMW X5 M and the hot new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8.

It really needs no explanation. And to make things more interesting, they even provided a video!

If the Porsche 911 Turbo wasn’t fast enough to begin with, the automaker is kicking power up even further with an all new tri-turbo system.

The horizontally opposed 3.8-liter six-cylinder is currently fitted with a twin-turbo, and the next generation 991 is being used in the last stage of development for the new tri that will replace it.

Patent applications reveal that the next turbo will be similar to the current larger twin-turbo, in conjunction with a smaller unit to help cut turbo lag on the low-end. The three components combined will boost overall power output, improve linear delivery at low revs, and will likely bring down fuel costs.

Click here for more news on the Porsche 911.

While no specs have been released, it is likely that the next generation will put out roughly 525hp, matching the 911 Turbo S model.

The 911 GT2 and the next GT2 RS are both likely to be fitted with the tri-turbo, as well.

“Our fans were asked to vote for their favorite historic racing livery,” Porsche said. “They chose the iconic Porsche 917 K with the red-white Salzburg livery, known best for delivering Porsche’s first overall victory in Le Mans with Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann behind the wheel.”

In Sept. 2011, the new 360-hp Infiniti M Hybrid set the Guinness World Record for the world’s fastest hybrid by running the standing quarter mile in 13.9031 seconds. Infiniti is now banking on that move with a new commercial released yesterday called ‘The Duel.’

The commercial shows the Infiniti M35h Hybrid going head-to-head with the 2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid.

“‘The Duel’ is an exciting way to remind everyone that the Infiniti M Hybrid is the world’s fastest accelerating full-hybrid with 360 horsepower and 32 miles per gallon,” said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. “At Infiniti, we believe that luxury should always thrill and inspire.”

Refresher: The Infiniti M35 Hybrid will be powered by a single electric-motor/twin-clutch arrangement, mated to a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6. Together the system makes 360-hp. The first-clutch is installed between the V6 engine and the electric motor, which Infiniti says allows for a more responsive drive. Infiniti said that the M35 Hybrid, which will carry a lithium-ion battery pack, has the ability to run solely on electric-power under certain driving conditions. 0 to 62 mph comes in 5.5 seconds with an EPA-rated fuel-economy of 27/32 mpg (city/highway).

The 10 year anniversary of Porsche’s Leipzig plant is being celebrated with a production milestone of 100,000 second generation Cayenne.

“Ten years ago the success story of Porsche Leipzig startet,” said Wolfgang Leimgruber, Member of the Executive Board of Production and Logistics of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. “What was a greenfield site, today ranks among the most modern car plants in the world. In addition to the Cayenne, Leipzig is also where Porsche produces the very successful Panamera luxury saloon, approximately 70,000 units of which have now rolled off the production line. That is why more than 93,800 vehicles left the Porsche plant in Leipzig in 2011, more than in any year before,”

The 100,000 pure white Porsche Cayenne with a V8 unit is on its way to Brazil.

Here is something we haven’t heard about in a while. Reports from Germany state that Volkswagen Group may complete its purchase of 50.1 percent share in Porsche Automobile Holding SE. If completed, Volkswagen will get around having to pay 1 billion euros in taxes if it completes the purchase before 2014.

A report from a German magazine also said that Volkswagen will make strides to ensure Porsche has the independence within the Volkswagen Group to ease resistance from Porsche labor leaders.

Volkswagen currently owns 49.9 percent of Porsche’s automotive department.

While declining to comment on the report, Volkswagen spokesman Christine Ritz told Bloomberg that the purchase is ‘still in the process.’

“Of course all the parties are interested in achieving the goal of an integrated automotive group as soon as it makes economic sense to do so,” Ritz said. “As soon as we have made a decision to achieve that goal, we will communicate that.”

Porsche has just pulled the virtual covers off of the latest generation Porsche Boxster. And although Porsche has been known to stick to the sayings, “evolution instead of revolution” and “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” the Porsche Boxster has pretty much been significant updates to the previous generation—much like the 911. I mean, this latest version is only the third generation and the Boxster has been with us since 1996.

But this time around, Porsche isn’t kidding when they say that this is an all-new Boxster. Internally named the Type 988, the new Boxster is the most thoroughly updated model since the predecessor, the Type 987, which debuted almost eight years ago.

Much like the latest 911, the internally coded 991, the Porsche Boxster 988 gets a completely new lightweight body, allowing it to ride on a longer wheelbase with a wide track, all while weighing less than the outgoing model. Visually, the Boxster receives some of the treatments that were first seen on the Panamera, such as the more raked trunkline and the taillights.

Thanks to a change over to electromechanical power steering and the new body, the new Boxster is also 15% more fuel-efficient on the European cycle. Powering the new Boxster is a new 2.7L flat-four, good for 265hp, while the new Boxster S gets an updated 3.4L flat-four that makes 315hp. Both feature standard manual cog swappers while Porsche’s PDK-nonsense (pronunciation-wise at least at an English standpoint) is also available. Sprints to 60 clock in at 5.4 seconds for the standard Boxster and 4.7 seconds with the real-man’s three-pedal setup. Porsche didn’t say themselves, but I’d expect some slightly quicker times with the PDK.

They’ll arrive at your nearest dealers at the beginning of this summer with a base price of $49,500 for the normal Boxster, $60,900 for the Boxster S.

Not too long ago, Porsche’s CEO Matthias Mueller leaked word that the Zuffenhausen brand was in the works with an entry-level roadster that would slot itself below the Boxster. However, the approval and success of that project was dependent on the “economic” circumstances and climate. Now, apparently Porsche is delaying the project.

”Possibly we need to wait until the next generation of customers before the idea of a small roadster will work for Porsche,” said Mueller in an interview. Mueller also said that there was worry that the entry-level roadster could dilute the brand’s image. But interestingly enough, the new Cajun SUV isn’t doing that already?

Either way, the idea of this entry-level roadster is comes from Porsche’s desire to produce a succssor to the iconic Porsche 550—yes, the one that killed James Dean. If anything, Mueller apparently added that the model could see a 2014 launch.

On the other side of things, because Porsche is delaying this entry-level roadster project, Mueller said that the brand is considering a new sports car slotted above the 911. He hinted with details that it could cost between 300,000 to 400,000 euros. Not much else was said. But to me, that sounds like they’re coming out with a successor to the Porsche Carrera GT. Only time will tell.

Two special automobiles are up for sale on ebay that are sure to be nostalgic for some given mark left on their generation. The pair includes a BMW 8-series and a Porsche 928, both top of the line models.

The BMW is an 850CSi with a manual gearbox, and with no M class released, this is the best of the 8-series one can get. It is powered by a 5.6-liter V12 that puts out 375hp. The model was available form 1992 to 1995, and out of the 1,510 total produced; only 225 of those were available in the states. This one is a 1995 in Daytona Violet paint for the exterior and Lotus White/Violet leather on the inside, with just 29,000 miles on it. Asking price is $65,900.

As for the Porsche 928 GTS, the production years are the same as the BMW, and this one is a 1994 model year. This blue-painted model has upgraded tail lamps and body parts, such as wider fenders. Power comes from a 5.4-liter V8 that puts out 345hp. This model has just 19,000 miles on it, with an asking price of $109,500.

Porsche unveiled its latest addition to the new 991 line-up: the all new, 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carerra S Cabrolets.

Built on an entirely new platform, unlike the 996 and 997 generations, the new 991 Cabriolet loses 132 lbs to its predecessors thanks to extensive use of magnesium. It might not seem like much, but such weight can result in a huge difference in performance and handling, all for the better.

Also separating the 991 Cabriolet from previous generation 911 Cabriolets is a uniquely designed roof that for the first time, retains the bespoke roofline of the 991 Coupe. Additionally, the roof can be opened or closed via the center console or the key fob while in motion. The folding origami completes in roughly 13 seconds and can be operated at speeds over 30 mph.

Powering the new 991 Carrera Cabriolet is a newly updated 3.4L flat-six producing 350hp while the Carrera S gets the same 3.8L direct-injected flat-six from the 997 Carrera S, producing 400hp.

The 991 Carrera is set to hit your local showrooms around the spring of 2012 with the base Carrera Cabriolet basing at $93,700 and the Carrera S Cabriolet at $103,800.

It has just been confirmed by Porsche that the U.S. is getting two new models, to follow behind the 911 Carrera Cabriolet’s upcoming premier at next week’s 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

Already available in Europe, the Cayenne Diesel will be powered by a slightly faster version of the motor found in the TDI variants of the Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7. With 15-hp over the Q7 at 240hp, the 406 lb-ft of torque still remains the same on the 3.0-liter V6.

According to YouTube marchettino, there’s a time in the summer every year when a bunch of people from the Middle East (mainly Dubai) come to London with their expensive supercars and fill the streets with the most bizarre and expensive toys you’ve probably ever seen.

Of course, the best part about it all is you get to see the cars in action and hear the wonderful noise that comes out of their exhaust. I guess it beats an auto show at Jacob Javitz Center in NYC.

It’s been quite some time since we did a new edition of our ‘Top 10 most important things you need to know about” segment – so today we’re coming back strong with a look at the new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera. Let’s get it started guys.

Read our other Top 10 things you need to know lists.

Top 10 things you need to know about the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera:

Porsche says that the 2012 911 Carrera has been ‘completely redesigned’ for the 7th-generation model but you probably won’t be able to tell until you took a closer look at the rear-end of the car. As always, Porsche holds true to the 911 Carrera design philosophy of ‘evolution, not revolution.’ I mean why fix something that’s not broken.

Nonetheless, weight of the new 2012 Porsche 911 was reduced thanks to a new lightweight body featuring aluminum-steel composite construction that reduces weight by 100 pounds.

Time to pay attention: The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by a 3.4 liter boxer 6-cylinder making 350-hp with a maximum torque of 287 lb-ft. Mated to Porsche’s PDK 7-speed dual-clutch transmission the 911 Carrera runs from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and 4.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package’s Launch Control function. The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S is powered by a 3.8 liter 6-cylinder boxer producing 400-hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. With a PDK, the 911 Carrera S goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and 3.9 seconds with the Launch Control function of the optional Sport Chrono Package.

This year, Porsche is also offering a 7-speed manual. If you like circling through gets, the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, while the 911 Carrera S does it in 4.3 seconds. PDK may be the way to go this year.

Reports say that the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S lapped the famous Nurburgring track in Germany a whole 13 seconds quicker (7:40 seconds) than the outgoing model – and that’s pretty impressive.

The 2012 911 Carrera weighs in at 3,042 pounds while the 911 Carrera S comes in at 3,075 pounds.

Fuel-economy: The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera returns an EPA-rated fuel-economy of 19/27/22 mpg (city/highway/combined). The 2012 911 Carrera S returns 19/26/22 mpg. Both have an estimated annual fuel-cost comes in at $2,427 (based on45% highway, 55% city driving, 15,000 annual miles and current fuel prices). Both also feature a 16.9 gallon tank.

The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera models come with an impressive list of standard features including Porsche Communication Management (PCM) featuring a high-resolution 7-inch color display (touch screen), dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, AUX and iPod connectivity. Keep in mind that navigation is optional along with heated seats and much more.

Prices for the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera start at $82,100 while the 911 Carrera S starts at $96,400.

The 2012 911 Carrera Cabriolet and 911 Carrera S Cabriolet start at $93,700 and $108,000 respectively.

TopCar has crafted a special edition of its Porsche Cayenne Vantage 2 body kit called the Carbon Edition. Take that literally, as the entire body kit has been made over in bare carbon fiber.

The Russian tuner debuted the car at the Top Line 2011 exhibition, with a kit that includes fender flairs, side skirts, front and rear bumpers, hood, and liftgate and roof spoilers. The rest of the body is coated in grey paint.

Inside, the Cayenne II has been heavily modified with only carbon fiber components.

Starting with the Cayenne Turbo motor, Topcar included a remapped ecu, a sports exhaust system and air filter, a light set of wheels, and Brembo breaks for stopping power.
