Pontiac G8 Sport Truck not likely to get the ‘El Camino’ badge

“I personally like the name,” GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said when asked if “El Camino” has a chance. “It would have instant recognition.” Unfortunately, the new 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck is not likely to get the El Camino badge.

According to Cars.com who recently attended a press event for the new Pontiac Sport Truck, Pontiac is now down to 10 names after asking the public to vote on a name for the new model. Pontiac spokesman, Brian Shipman, says that the ‘El Camino’ name is most likely out the window since it will cause internal beef between Chevrolet and Pontiac.

KBB names the Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18k

Kelley Blue Book has announced its picks for the Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000. To make the list, the editors at KBB.com thought like consumers, picking cars that they felt were safe, good in fuel-economy, interior size, comfort, technology and fun-to-drive.

Now remember just because a vehicle is listed first doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the cheapest or the coolest on the list. All cars on the list are considered cool and are under $18,000. They are just listed in alphabetical order.

All the cars on the list were chosen using Kelly Blue Book’s New Car Blue Book Value which reflects real transaction prices and provide a useful comparison to the MSRP of the car.

Let us know what you would buy in the comments section below.

Strike may cause GM to stop building Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5

Strike may cause GM to stop building Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5

The 3,650 worker strike at American Axle, which is now in its fifth week, has forced GM to halt production at seven GM light-truck assembly plants in North America. With no progress being made between the UAW and American Axle, GM may soon be forced to close its first car assembly plants next week.

According to a report by the Associated Press, GM could stop producing the Chevrolet Cobalt and the Pontiac G5 in Lordstown, Ohio, by April 4 as a result of a shortage of brake parts made by American Axle. The Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS, which are produced at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant, may also face a shot down.
