Video: Batman’s Lamborghini Murcielago seen in new ‘Dark Knight’ trailer

We were supposed to see Batman’s Lamborghini at the 2008 New York Auto Show. Unfortunately the car was a no show and all we ended up seeing was a short video by MTV with some Mattel guy showing off the toy version of the car.

However, if you hit up the theaters recently and made in time for the previews, the latest Batman ‘The Dark Knight’ trailer futures a few quick seconds of the 640 horsepower Lamborghini Murcielago speeding through Gotham City.

“The Dark Knight” is set to be released in theaters worldwide on July 18, 2008.

Top 10 World’s Fastest Cars

While gas prices continue to go up and the economy continues to go down, some could care less and would rather buy the fastest gas-guzzling cars on the road no matter how much they cost. Forbes has teamed up with Tom duPont to find the world’s fastest cars for their latest Top 10 list.

“A Bugatti test driver took a $100 bill and plastered it on the dashboard,” recalls duPont, who was invited to strap into the passenger seat for a demonstration drive. “He told me I could have it if I could grab it once we took off.”

As many of you know the amazing Bugatti Veyron goes from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 253mph.

“The car accelerates so fast that you can’t touch [the $100 bill],” he said. “You can’t move your hands.”

“In the future, we will always work together just on the hidden parts — parts that will not touch the DNA of Lamborghini,” said Winkelmann. “That could include things like the electrical platforms that need high investment, or hoses and filters, but we have to safeguard against too much of it.”

Lamborghini Ferruccio: The fastest Lambo that never saw the light of day

Lamborghini Ferruccio

We’re not sure whether this is an April Fool’s joke or not, but CarMagazine is reporting on the Lamborghini Ferruccio, a Lamborghini that never made it to the roads. Designed by Italian coachbuilder Magviso, the Ferruccio was a rebodied Murcielago LP640 that would’ve been faster than any Lamborghini car. And while it wasn’t an official Lambo project, the Italian automaker was ‘monitoring the scheme with interest.’

Power was supposed to come from a 6.5L V12 engine mated with a all-wheel-drive system. The engine produced 630-hp and 660 lb-ft of torque giving it the ability to go from 0-60 in 3 seconds with a top speed of over 230mph.

So why did the Ferruccio never see light of day? According to designer Pule Magau, Lamborghini didn’t see it justified to build the car since they only had three orders and no deposits. During planning, only 10 examples of the Ferruccio were planned with five hard-tops and five convertibles. Prices were expected to start somewhere around $1.5 million.
