About two months ago, Koenigsegg claimed that its Agera R supercar was capable of setting some very strong performance results.

That’s not so surprising as the Koenigsegg delivers some strong output. Power for the Agera R comes from a 5.0L twin-turbo V8 producing 1,115-hp and a maximum torque of 885 lb-ft on E85 fuel. If you fill the tank with 95-octange gasoline instead of E85 biofuel, you’ll only get 940-hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. The Koenigsegg Agera R goes from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 240 mph.

While it isn’t the fastest car in the world to go from 0 to 62 mph and doesn’t really break any top speed records, the Agera R does break the following records as confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records

The numbers are as follows:

0-300 km/h (186 mph)= 14.53 sec

0-200 mp/h (124 mph) = 17.68 sec

(186 mpg) 300-0 km/h = 6.66 sec

(124 mph) 200-0 mp/h = 7.28 sec

0-300-0 km/h (186 mph)= 21.19 sec

0-200-0 mp/h (124 mph) = 24.96 sec

While Koenigsegg has focused most of its attention on its new model, the Agera, tuner edo competition has turned its attention to offering a nice power upgrade for the Koenigsegg CCR.

The power upgrade package from edo Competition remapped the ECU and upgraded the transmission. That allows the 4.7L twin-supercharged V8 to hit an eye-watering 891-hp. The 6-speed transmission was disassembled and the plastic bushings were replaced with Uniball units. That allows the Koenigsegg CCR to hit a top speed of 242 mph (reduced slightly).

So what has edo Competition done here? According to them: “The bottom line: edo competition has succeeded in upgrading this extremely rare exotic with fine details without watering down its distinctly unique character. However, the most impressive aspect is still the intense and violent acceleration, which is virtually unparalleled, even in the realm of supercars.”

No 0 to 60 mph figures were released.

Press Release:

More power and improved drivability for an extremely rare supercar

When it comes to high quality modifications for supercars, edo competition Motorsport GmbH is one of the most established names in the business. Regardless of make and model, the edo team is always looking for ways to refine and optimize. That’s also why the owner of a Koenigsegg came to us. Not entirely happy with the power of his Swedish exotic and looking to improve the drivability as well as the appearance, he tasked edo competition with the job of making it happen.

Since the V8 engine is being force-fed by twin superchargers, the main focus was on the setup of the two Rotrex units. With assistance from the manufacturer the drive ratio was modified and the ECU was remapped to accommodate the hardware changes. The aim was to increase the power output while maintaining a broad torque curve over the whole rev range. With the new drive ratio the engine hits its torque peak earlier and puts out up to 891 horsepower, depending on the level of tune. In order to ensure long term reliability of the superchargers, the engine redline was lowered to 7,200 rpm.

The transmission with its notchy gear changes received an overhaul as well. The six speed gearbox was disassembled in its entirety and the plastic bushings were replaced with Uniball units. The final result: full boost pressure from just 3,700 rpm all the way up to 6,000 rpm, reassuringly durable brakes, finely tuned directional stability beyond 300 km/h (186 mph) and a top speed that was reduced slightly from 390 km/h (242 mph) for phenomenal and significantly improved acceleration and drivability.

Additional changes were made to the design of the vehicle’s interior and exterior. The wheels for example underwent a beauty treatment and received a coat of charcoal paint. The updated front with auxiliary lights now resembles the later CCR models, and the Alcantara material that was used throughout the Koenigsegg’s cabin provides a more luxurious feel. The redesigned center console now accommodates a new infotainment system including a reversing camera as well as a custom-made pouch for the immobilizer remote. For safety reasons a TPM system now informs the driver about tire pressures and temperatures. The display was integrated into the dashboard.

All modifications are carried out exclusively at edo competition Motorsport GmbH in Ahlen.

At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Koenigsegg showed up to the show with the Agera R, a faster version of the Agera.

At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Koenigsegg showed up with their new Agera. Power for the Koenigsegg Agera comes from the same 4.7L V8 twin-turbocharged as the CCX making 910-hp with a maximum torque of 737 lb-ft. That allows the Koenigsegg run from 0 to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds with a top speed of 240 mph. So how do you make an already fast supercar faster? You add an R at the end.

Meet the Koenigsegg Agera R. Power comes from a 5.0L twin-turbo V8 making a neck snapping 1,115-hp and a maximum torque of 885 lb-ft on E85 fuel. If you fill the tank with 95-octange gasoline instead of E85 biofuel, you’ll only get 940-hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and we’re pretty sure that cuts the 0 to 62 mph time down to something that’s very impressive (Koenigsegg didn’t confirm performance figures).

While no performance figures were released Koenigsegg points out that the Agera R rides on Vortex Generating Rim (VGR) wheels that are wrapped in Michelin tires developed specifically for the car. The tires are apparently good for 260 mph, which makes them the highest speed rated tired in the world.

The Koenigsegg Agera R will debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Any car enthusiasts dream is to have a huge garage filled with the most exotic cars. Well, besides Jay Leno, a 21-year old by the name of Dhiaa Al-Essa is living that dream. Dhiaa has 30 luxury supercars in his garage, including four Ferraris, five Porsches, three Lamborghinis, two Rolls Royces and a Mercedes SLR McLaren.

If that wasn’t enough to satisfy his need for speed, Dhiaa is also set to take delivery of Koenigsegg Agera for his 22nd birthday and is also on the waiting list for a Bugatti Veyron. Who’s paying for all this? Daddy is of course. Dhiaa is the son of a Saudi business tycoon who buys him all these toys and paid for his recent summer vacation where he flew his cars to London, Montreal, Las Vegas and New York to go on driving tours with friends.

“I love speed but the limit in Saudi Arabia is 75mph so I”m pretty limited,” said the engineering student. “When the Bugatti arrives I hope to take it to Germany where you can drive as fast as you can.”

“The Mercedes McLaren SLR is my favorite,” Dhiaa says. “I love the way it looks and drives and it”s also been reliable for a car out in 50ºC temperatures.”

Dhiaa’s Ferrari 458 Italia recently went up in flames due to the recall involved with the Italian stallion, but he is planning on replacing it with a new Ferrari 599 Roadster we heard about last week.

The news of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport hitting a top speed of 268 mph spread quickly through the automotive world – of course it would since news like that is pretty significant, especially in the supercar manufacturer world. So when Christian von Koenigsegg heard of the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport hitting 268 mph his reaction was: “I thought they would go faster than that.”

Christian isn’t completely wrong because Bugatti’s official test-driver, Pierre Henri Raphanel returned to top speed runs at 265.3 mph and one at 269.6 mph. The folks at Guinness just took the average of both times, which came in at 268 mph.

Either way, Christian is pretty sure the new Koenigsegg Agera is capable of matching or beating a Veyron – they just lack the facilities to do so.

“They have a good test track, Volkswagen ““ but they wouldn”t let us use it, of course,” said Christian. “Maybe they would before there was such a thing as a Bugatti Veyron. But not now.”

So is this a challenge or are we just reading into it too much? You decide.

Refresher: Power for the Koenigsegg Agera comes from the same 4.7L V8 as the CCX. The engine has been twin-turbocharged to produce a total of 910-hp with a maximum torque of 737 lb-ft.
There are some instances where you really hate rich people – not because you envy the amount of cash they have to flaunt – but because of the stupid decisions they make. A member of the Al-Thani royal family from Qatar parked his baby blue Koenigsegg CCXR and a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce outside of Harrod’s on London’s Brompton Road.

Only problem is he parked illegally and both were booted for the reason. Not sure how much Ana Al-Thani had to pay to get them freed but we’re guessing it didn’t bother his wallet that much. Al-Thani’s collection also includes a one-off Pagani Zonda Uno in the same baby blue color.

Check out a short video of the instance after the jump.

Koenigsegg managed to coat the fibers with a diamond finish, which is apparently a tedious task since it is conducted carefully in small quantities. It’s no wonder that Koenigsegg will only make 3 CCXR Trevitas.

Koenigsegg is ready to celebrate 15 years of producing supercars with the launch of the new Koenigsegg Agera – a new supercar aimed to take the company’s performance to the next level.

“The development of the Koenigsegg Agera has been evolutionary, following the Koenigsegg tradition of continuous improvements, by honing and perfecting the end result, all based on previous experience and innovative mindsets. The focus when developing the Koenigsegg Agera was to maximize, driving experience, cornering speed, braking and adaptability,” says Christian von Koenigsegg.

But after looking at the picture above, you’re probably thinking that the Agera looks like every other Koenigsegg – well, that’s because that’s what the company is aiming for. Koenigsegg says that its design of the concept CC, created 15 years ago, is still fresh and competitive today so the Agera will stay true to the original philosophy, shape and size of the CC. However it will perform, handle and feel like something totally new.

Power for the Koenigsegg Agera comes from the same 4.7L V8 as the CCX, however its been twin-turbocharged to produce a total of 910-hp with a maximum torque of 737 lb-ft. That will allow it to go from 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds with a top speed of more than 240 mph.

Koenigsegg will produce the Agera right next to its CCX and CCXR at its facility outside of Ängelholm, Sweden.

If you’ve never seen a Koenigsegg CCX on the road its because the Swedish supercar maker only produces 25 units a year and only 10 of those make it to the United States.

Well, the folks over at WreckedExotics spotted one in New York… destroyed.

The story goes that a dealer decided to take out a customer’s Koenigsegg CCX for a spin and ended up crashing into a guardrail and a 2009 Porsche GT2.

We’re wondering how the story will play out.

In the midst of a Saab takeover, Koenigsegg had time to prepare something for next week’s 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Swedish supercar manufacturer will be unveiling the new Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, which they say “sparkles like millions of silvery white diamonds infused inside the visible carbon fiber weave bodywork.”

The Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita (which means three whites) gets rid of the classic black carbon fibers for what they call “the Koenigsegg Proprietary Diamond Weave.” Basically, Koenigsegg has managed to coat the fibers with a diamond finish, which is apparently a tedious task since it is conducted carefully in small quantities.

Koenigsegg will only produce three units of the CCXR Trevita, each sold at a premium price to be announced later. Each unit will be fitted with Koenigsegg’s Shimmering Diamond Weave bodywork, double carbon wing, paddle-shift, inconell exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes with ABS, hydraulic lifting system, and a chrono instrument cluster.
