According to a report coming out of the UK, Jaguar is seriously thinking of a hotter ‘S’ version of the XFR sedan. Executives inside Jaguar say that the 503-hp XFR is being ‘outgunned’ by new rivals such as the 552-hp BMW M5 and the 549-hp Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

The recently launched Jaguar XKR-S is powered by a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 making 550-hp with a maximum torque of 502 lb-ft of torque, It goes from 0 to 60 mph comes in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.

Reports suggest that a prototype was recently spotted on the Nurburgring.

Known as the Bladon Jets Engineering Center, the facility will employ 15 people and will house equipment used for the production of the small gas turbines. Each engine produces around 95-hp.

The Jaguar C-X75 Concept was powered by four 195-hp electric motors – one for each wheel – producing a total of 780-hp and a peak torque of 1,180 lb ft. On battery power alone, the C-X75 has a range of 68 miles. After power from the lithium-ion batteries ran out, the C-X75 Concept was to use two gas micro-turbines that produce a total of 188-hp and extend the range to 560 miles. Mated to a single-speed transmission, the Jaguar C-X75 Concept ran from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph.

Of the 250 units that don’t get the turbine, Jaguar will fit them with a 4-cylinder turbo engine produced by Formula One team Williams.

Even 20 years, Jaguar’s engineers constructed the XJ220 using advanced aluminium honeycomb, which made the car significantly strong while weighing just 1,470 kg (3,234 pounds). Power for the Jaguar XJ220 came from a 3.5 liter V6 twin-turbo engine making 542-hp with a maximum torque of 475 lb-ft. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox and a AP Racing twin-plate clutch, the XJ220 was abel to hit 60 mph from 0 in under 4 seconds.

Production of the Jaguar XJ220 was completed by hand at Jag’s Bloxham, Oxfordshire factory. The first customer car was completed in June 1992 with a retail price of £470,000 ($743,046 USD).

Production of the model ended just 2 years later, by which 275 units were built.

The model is the only modified one of the six and features a carbon-fiber body to help cut weight down to 2,379 lbs, is coated in paint created to match Lamborghini’s Reventon Gray, and a boasts a $20,000 titanium exhaust system. The exterior is also fitted with wider side sills, an adjustable rear spoiler, and a front splitter.

Powered by a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 motor coupled with a five-speed manual transmission, the XJ220S sits on four-wheel independent suspension and has stopping power provided by four-wheel disc breaks.

The Jaguar will be auctioned by RM Auctions in Pheonix, Arizona on January 19th, and is expected to go for between $225,000 and $300,000.

Next month’s North American International Auto Show at the Coba Center in Detroit will be missing a few brands, and among the absent will be Jaguar and Land Rover.

With a growing market in India, the brand’s owners, Tata Group, opted to go to India’s New Delhi Auto Show and the invitation-only event on Jaunary 8 at the Gallery at the MGM Grand Hotel.

“We decided to show them next in the Delhi Show in January as part of our effort to build our brands in this growing market. Therefore, without anything new to show in Detroit this year, we felt it most efficient to not participate in the show,” Jaguar and Land Rover spokesman Stuart Schorr said in a statement. “Jaguar Land Rover recognizes the Detroit Show is a world class exhibition, but for 2012 we will not exhibit there.”

So far, the automaker’s concepts have done well, with the Land Rover DC100 and DC 100 Sport SUV, and the Jaguar C-X16 concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

On the outside, Brabus’ sister tuner company crafted a subtle aero kit that includes a front apron with LED daytime running lights, side air inlets, trim for the front fender air bents, rocker panels in the rear, a rear diffuser and boot lid spoiler, and stainless-steel tailpipes. The XJ rides on tires sized at 255/35 ZR 21 up front, and 295/30 ZR 21 in the rear, that wrap a new set of forged alloy wheels.

Interior customizations on the inside come with a selection of leather and Alcantara, and a variety of trims, with additional upgrades such as modems for high-speed internet, and electronic tables.

Although there are no power upgrades for this package, Startech did an awesome job on the aesthetic upgrades for the Jaguar XJ.

Jaguar is in the holiday spirit and has released a teaser shot of its upcoming Jaguar XF Sportbrake on Twitter.

So does this Jaguar XF Sportbrake photo tell us anything? Not really. All we really see is Santa loading up the Jaguar XF station wagon with gifts offering a quick glimpse of the inside of the car.

The Jaguar XF Sportbrake is due to hit European roads early next year. No plans have been announced for the stateside.

Jaguar is hard at work to reinvigorate their image after nearly two decades of producing cars that were a little too reminiscent of past. As a result, most people think of Jaguars as luxurious “old-people mobiles.”

But truth be told, Jaguar has a lot of motorsport and high-performance history and pedigree. And to make sure that the future generations know of Jaguar as a performance model, the brand has just released a new television advertisement in the US featuring their latest and greatest high performance cars.

This new television spot truly communicates the excitement surrounding the brand with our new high performance line-up,” said David Pryor, Brand Vice President of Jaguar North America, LLC. “The ad boldly shows off the three highest performing models in the Jaguar fleet, the XFR, XJL Supersport and XKR-S. Based out of Stowe, VT, I’m personally smack dab in the middle of the snowbelt; Audis, Subarus, Benzes and BMWs are the bread and butter of everyday car culture. Though there is one brand missing from this equation though and with good reason: Jaguar. A town of 4,000 in rural Vermont might not seem all that important to the famous British marque, but it is a great indicator of the snowbelt, which demands all wheel drive, as indicated by Jag boss Adrian Hallmark:

“In the past all-wheel-drive has meant Audi and Quattro, but now it is something that the market expects…In the snowbelt of America it accounts for 70 per cent of sales, and overall it accounts for 30 per cent of sales, so we are working on it and in the final stages of a decision. It is core to our future offering.”

What does this mean for prospective and current Jaguar owners? There will be all wheel drive XJs and XFs available in the next two years instead of pursuing hybrids, which Jag has decided is something that their customers are not willing to pay for yet.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, the Jaguar XKR-S Convertible has been sold out. In fact, the car was sold out before it even made its debut at the 2011 LA Auto Show.

Production allocated for the United States had been set for just 25 units and all have been accounted for and will be delivered to their rightful owners in early 2012.

The Jaguar XKR-S Convertible is the fastest drop-top the company has every produced – could it possibly be the fastest one its ever sold too?

Jaguar has made its most efficent model yet, and to prove it, a British team took the XF 2.2 Diesel across North America from New York to Los Angeles, and came up with an impressive average figure of 62.9mpg.

Independant testers David and Alexander Madgwick took the UK spec XF 2.2 diesel through 11 states and three time zones throughout an 8 day journey. Only four fuel stops were required for the entire 2,884 mile trip.

Accompanying the pair on the trip, which closed Monday, was Paul Alcock, XF Project Manager,who says “This project was designed primarily to test the potential economy of the XF 2.2. The incredible figures achieved by the car were accomplished through making every element of the new XF as efficient as possible – from its aerodynamics to its four-cylinder 2.2-litre diesel engine linked to an eight-speed gearbox. The whole XF team is incredibly proud of what’s been achieved and it’s a graphic demonstration of the strength, engineering integrity and efficiency of the car.”

The automaker also says they took care not to compromise the quality that Jaguar fans expect. All the standard trim, seating capacity, and electronic extras are still standard for the car.

Refresher: The 2012 Jaguar XF Diesel is powered by a 2.2 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes a 187-hp with a maximum torque of 332 lb-ft. Mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox and a stop-start system, the diesel XF 2.2 goes from 0 to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds with a top speed of 140 mph.

Of course, there are a lot of concepts and production models here at the 2011 LA Auto Show today that we’ve seen before. However, a lot of them are making their first appearance on North American soil. One of them is the new and beautiful Jaguar C-X16 Concept.

While Jaguar isn’t saying anything officially as of yet, previous reports suggest that the Porsche 911 competitor will enter production next year. We’re pretty sure at that point, Jaguar will get rid of the electric-motor system that powers the car and just opt for a straight gasoline powertrain with diesel options available in Europe.

Refresher: The Jaguar C-X16 Concept is powered by a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 engine making 375-hp with a maximum torque of 332 lb-ft. The engine is mated to an 8-speed transmission, which has a motor generator that draws power from a 1.6 kWh battery pack. The battery charges through a brake energy regeneration system, and allows for an extra 94-hp and 173 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 62 mph comes in just 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 185 mph. Acceleration from 50 to 75 mph takes just 2.1 seconds. Jaguar says that the C-X16 is able to travel up to 50 mph under electric power alone.

Powered by Jaguar’s third generation AJ-V8, the XKR-S convertible retains the same supercharger as its coupe sibling, but was retuned to churn out 542-hp and 502 lb-ft of torque for a 0-60 time of just 4.2 seconds.

Much like the XKR-S coupe, the convertible comes with a specially tuned exhaust while the all-aluminum V8 also employs spray-guided direct injection. The Roots-type twin-vortex supercharger sits in the valley of the engine and is accompanied by two intercoolers that make the XKR-S 20% more thermodynamically efficient than its predecessor.

A revised front and rear suspension setup keeps the XKR-S agile, despite the slight increase in weight from the obligatory add-ons of drop tops. The all-aluminum body was also reworked to make it much stiffer than the traditional XKR, allowing for the XKR-S convertible to take the title as the stiffest car in its class.

UK deliveries are expected to begin at the beginning of the 2012 year with prices starting at just £103,000. Full details for the American market will be released later on, but for now, we just know that only 25 will be sent to our shores.

Jaguar today announced the new XJ Sport and Speed Packages that allow you to cut the elegance crap out of the picture and be a little mean.

“The XJ is much more than a limousine. Its power and potential mean it can out-perform many so-called sports cars,” said Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars. “The new Sport and Speed Packs allow customers to enhance that sporting dynamism even further and create an XJ that looks as good as it drives.”

The Jaguar XJ Sport Pack is available on all engine variants except the XJ Supercharged and includes, aerodynamically optimised styling changes to front and rear, 20-inch alloy wheel design, red painted brake callipers with Jaguar script,  optional sports seating for front and rear passengers, and additional interior trim choices mean even greater color and veneer combinations.

The new Jaguar XJ Speed Pack, which is exclusive to supercharged models increased the electronically limited top speed from 155mph to 174mph.

“A car capable of 174mph must have certain basic attributes – stability, aerodynamics, prodigious power and as little weight as possible,” said Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity. “The XJ is blessed with all these qualities in abundance and with the addition of the Speed Pack it becomes an ever more impressive performance saloon.”
