Refresher: The Ferrari 458 Spider is powered by the same 4.5L V8 producing 570-hp at 9,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. Mated to a dual-clutch 7-speed F1 gearbox, 0 to 62 mph come in 3.4 seconds (same as coupe) with a top speed of 198 mph (a drop of 2 mph when compared to the coupe). The Ferrari 458 Spider’s top comes down in just 14 seconds. Prices start at $275,000.

With less than 300 miles on the odometer, this specific F40 switched hands three times after originally being owned by Iacocca. Complete with the sale is the original MSO (Manufactuerer’s Statement of Origin) and a title that still has gone unregistered, which helps certify the F40’s authenticity.

This F40 is expected to fetch around $650,000-$750,000 and will be auctioned on January 20^th.

Fezza’s president might just become even more than that: Luca di Montezemolo is running for president of Italy. The 64 year old lawyer wrote a letter of intent to the liberal-centrist Italia Futura Party, suggesting they prepare for an election.

Montezmolo suggested that: “The Second Republic has failed. We need new faces and new ideas because the next elections will be of historic importance.”

Montezmolo has served at Ferrari’s president for 20 years and it is not yet apparent how this political move will effect things at Ferrari.

According to YouTube marchettino, there’s a time in the summer every year when a bunch of people from the Middle East (mainly Dubai) come to London with their expensive supercars and fill the streets with the most bizarre and expensive toys you’ve probably ever seen.

Of course, the best part about it all is you get to see the cars in action and hear the wonderful noise that comes out of their exhaust. I guess it beats an auto show at Jacob Javitz Center in NYC.

Kent High Performance Cars, also known as The Ferrari Centre, is the former employer of Stephen Harris, a car technician who was severely injured in a crash during a test drive of a Ferrari 348 TS that he was test driving.

Stephen Harris’s job entailed the repair and service of Ferrari models, and testing them to ensure they were working properly before returning the cars to their owners.

Before the crash, which took place on the A274 in Kent back in 2008, 31 year-old Harris claims that was told by his boss Roger Collingwood to take the car up to 100mph. This is just before the crash that happened at 80mph when Harris lost control of the car and crashed into another, then into a group of trees.

The police report from the crash indicates that no defects were found with the car, and the other driver was not seriously injured.

Owner of Kent High Performance Cars Roger Collingwood says “All staff are told that under no circumstance can they break the laws of the road and they are never to exceed the speed limit.”

Harris’ injuries are terrible, as he is paralyzed from the neck down, and now needs 24 hour car and cannot get out of a wheel chair.

Collingwood also says “it is tragic what happened to Stephen, but we strongly dispute any claim of negligence on our part.”

The program allows Ferrari owners to customize any visual or textural detail of their supercar, both inside and out, with the help of a Personal Designer. After all the selections have been made, a tracking service is available so owners can keep tabs on their custom creations.

Three collections are available with the Scuderia, Inedita, and Classica models, each coming with its own range of custom options. Some of the selections being offered are materials that haven’t yet been used in automobiles, and the brand is open to new suggestions.

What if Ferrari started going down the electric-vehicle route? Well, at that point I’d probably turn in my driving gloves for a motorcycle – unless design was the only thing that attracted me to a vehicle. That seems to be the case for me with what you see here – the Ferrari Millenio Concept.

The concept is a design study created by Marko Petrovic and shows his take on what a future Ferrari with an electric-motor could look like.

The car is a two-seater with lightweight design and futures several pieces combined in one. No technical specs are available and frankly I’m too busy and amazed by the design that I really don’t care what electric powertrain is under the hood.

Three different versions of the 599 GTB will be offered, all of which will include a satin-finish aluminum fuel filler cap, Scuderia Ferrari shield on the front wheel arches, and diamond-finish 20-inch alloy wheels. They are all also based on the HGTE package, which comes with a thicker rear stabilizer bar, stiffer springs, sticker tires, and a lowered body.

Inside, the special editions come with Sabelt seats for Europe and Recaro seats for the U.S. versions, covered in superfabric and Alcantara, and feature blue and red colored four-point safety harnesses.

All three models come from different inspiration, one being Frolian Gonzalez’s 1951 first Ferrari victory in the 375 F1 at the British Grand Prix, and the 60th F1 victory by Fernando Alonso in the same location this summer.

Ferrari used the same shade of dark red for the new 375 as was on the supercar Gonzalez drove back in 1951, while the Scuderia matches that of Alonso’s winner, with Formula 1 white accents. Another version, the Italia 2, shares colors with Alonso’s car, but drops most of the white accents.

No car in an accident or on fire catches as much attention as an exclusive supercar. A Ferrari 599 GTB Firano was recently spotted burning slowly on a street in Dubai.

We’re not sure how the fire started or if anyone was injured in the process. All we can tell is no one driving by really cares to stop and check on what’s going on.

What you’re looking at is an outing of luxury sports car enthusiasts gone wrong. Apparently, the driver of one of the Ferraris attempted to switch lanes and hit the median barrier – that caused him to spin across the freeway and collide with other expensive supercars that were trying to avoid him. The damage? Likely more than $1 million.

NTV quoted the driver of one of the tow trucks saying it was the most expensive crash site he had ever seen – us too.

In all, the crash involved 14 vehicles, including 3 Mercedes-Benzs a Lamborghini, two Toyotas and eight Ferraris.

According to police, no one was seriously injured and a total of 10 people were treated for minor cuts and bruises.

All of the cars and their drivers were headed to a nearby enthusiasts gathering in Hiroshima.

Using the same concept as a time-share, Jointli.com has taken it a step outside the box, allowing people to come together to buy a variety of items, including supercars.

Buying a Ferrari is an unattainable dream for most people, but for those chasing the dream, there are already a few options available. Renting a Ferrari requires a ton of paperwork and a sizeable deposit, around $10,000, plus the $1,000 per day rental, making the total around $85,000 for 7 days out of each month of the year. Peer-to-Peer rentals are a newer option that cuts the daily rental cost in half, but still totals around $42,000 for the same amount of time.

With Jointli.com, the cost to co-own a Ferrari breaks down to $8 per hour for 7 days out of each month of the year, which totals $8,000 for a 12 month period, or $665 per month.

Sounds like unless you buy the car yourself, the situation could easily go wrong and get expensive, anyway. Certainly a cool concept, but in reality would this really hold up?

With its 6.0 liter V12 engine making 700-hp, the Ferrari 599XX is already a very powerful supercar – in fact, it’s so powerful that it’s one of the fastest cars to ever go around the Nurburgring at a blistering 6:58.16. But now Ferrari has taken it another step forward with the new 599XX Evolution, which loses some weight and gains extra power.

The Ferrari 599XX Evolution Package gets an active rear wing, improved chassis dynamics, modified front splitter, a new rear diffuser featuring a larger surface area and redesigned fences and foot-plates. With all those changes downforce at 200 km/h (124 mph) is increased to 330 kg (727 lbs) when the flaps are open and 440 kg (971 lbs) when they are closed.

Output on the car has been increase to 740-hp and torque has been raised to 516 lb-ft. Overall, the Ferrari 599XX Evolution Package drops a total of 77 pounds.

The Ferrari 599XX Evo is only available to Ferrari Corse Clienti – their racing client – taking part in the track-based R&D program for the 2012-2013 seasons.

The exterior has been given a coat of black paint with red piping that runs up the center of the supercar. A set of 21-inch black wheels with red accents match the body paint, with red calipers. An aero kit crafted from carbon fiber has been fitted to the outside, as well.

Ferrari isn’t exactly shy when it comes to performance, but Anderson Germany still kicked up the V12’s output to 674-hp with an ECU upgrade and a new sports exhaust system. The 599’s 0-62mph time has been cut down to just over 3 seconds.

Inside, the black and red theme is continued, but not overdone, and features quilted red leather surrounded by black leather with contrast red stitching. Carbon fiber replaces the standard door handles and sill, center console, and gearshift.

Perhaps the interior could be toned down to match the subtlety of the exterior, but on the whole this is a respectable package from Anderson.

Ferrari has a very large enthusiast following and because of that, you’d think the famed Italian brand would have a dedicated owner and collector’s club. However, they don’t and just recently, the Prancing Horse has apparently said that they’re in the works of creating a collector’s club to allow loyal customers have a better chance at owning the company’s limited edition cars.

Some of you may be confused by the last paragraph and to clear it up, Ferrari has a history of producing very limited edition automobiles that require specific prerequisites. For instance, those who wanted to by an Enzo had to have owned a specific amount of Ferrari automobiles in order to qualify to own one.

“I don’t want our faithful collectors to miss the opportunity to buy one of our special series,” said Ferrari’s CEO Luca Cordero di Montezemolo in an interview.

The club proposal comes after some controversy with the Ferrari SA Aperta, which is a roadster version of the 599 GTB Coupe. Apparently, some Ferrari owners expressed discontent because they were unable to buy the model since only 80 units were produced for about $545,000 a pop.

Theoretically, the Ferrari collector’s club would be far more exclusive than the preexisting owner’s clubs, which consist of around 13,000 members from more than 30 nations.

And to give Ferrari owners a better grasp of the kind of cars they drive and the country that builds them, Montezemolo said that he’s planning an annual driving and sightseeing event potentially called the “Ferrari Cavalcade.” It would ideally take place in a different region of Ferrari every year beginning in the spring of 2012 and would be open to 120 Ferrari owners from all around the world.

Born in Modena, Italy, Scaglietti’s first job was at a garage at age 13. At 16, Scaglietti and his older brother started their own garage across Ferrari’s Scuderia factory. Soon after the garage opened, Scaglietti was repairing cars for Enzo Ferrari.

Enzo eventually asked Scaglietti to build Ferrari a new chassis. The company’s 612 model was named after Scaglietti as a tribute to the man.

“Today is a sad day for Ferrari,” Ferrari said in a statement. “We lost a friend, a travel companion, a man who had his name forever connected to the Prancing Horse. Sergio Scaglietti leaves behind the legacy of an artist who, with his talent, created some of the most beautiful cars of our history.”
