Speaking today at the Geneva Motor Show, Franz-Josef Paefgen, Bentley Chief Executive, said that the entire Bentley model lineup will be capable of delivering less than 120 g/km of CO2 by 2012. The move will Bentley the first brand in its segment to offer renewable-fuel vehicles throughout its range while maintaining or improving performance.
Paefgen outlined a three-stage environmental strategy based on: improved efficiency, which would cut fleet emissions by at least 15 percent by 2012; a new powertrain in development that will deliver 40 percent improved fuel-economy; and renewable fuel including flex-fuel engines throughout the lineup by 2012.
“This is a major step in the history of Bentley, reflecting the increasing expectation from our customers around the world for performance motoring with fuel efficient engines,” said Paefgen. “We will set a benchmark in our segment of the industry by making every engine capable of running on renewable fuels, reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiency throughout our fleet.”
