Rieger gives the Audi A4 3.0 TDI 294-hp

European tuning company Rieger Tuning is known for its enhanced versions of BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Showing off its latest work at the Tuning World Bodensee show, Rieger unveiled its take on the new Audi A4 3.0 TDI.

Boosting performance through the use of a reprogrammed ECU, new sport air filter and a stainless-steel exhaust, Rieger increased output of the A4 3.0 TDI to 294-hp with a peak torque of 450 lb-ft. To further increase performance the brakes and suspension were also upgraded.

Visually, Rieger added a new front lip spoiler, side skirts, rear deck spoiler and a rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. The Rieger Audi A4 3.0 TDI rides on 20-inch alloy wheels with performance tires.

Audi R8 sold out for months to come

In Audi’s new sales report released Tuesday, the German automaker said that its Audi R8 car is sold out for months to come. Audi however is not saying how many R8s it has sold since the supercar hit the market last year.

The Volkswagen owned brand reported a 2.9 percent gans in sales in April, selling a total of 86,700 units worldwide.

Marvel plans Iron Man sequel for 2010

After the $99 million opening weekend of “Iron Man,” Marvel Entertainment Inc’s first fully self-financed production, the popular comic book company has announced plance for a sequel that will arrive in April of 2010.

According to Kevin Feige, head of production for Marvel Studios, Robert Downey will return for the sequel as a three-part deal for the Iron Man franchise. He said that Downey’s acting and appeal deserved much credit for the film’s success.

“Captain America” and “The Avengers” are also in the works for a 2011 summer release.

Wonder what Iron Man will be driving in part 2? We hope to see a V12 TDI Audi R8. We think the redness-orangish color of the Audi R8 V12 TDI goes great with Iron Man’s outfit.

Audi A1 and Polo to get VW’s next small-car platform with AWD

Volkswagen’s current small car platform, which underpins the Polo, Seat Ibiza and Skoda Fabia, will offer all-wheel-drive for the next-generation.

“The new small-car platform architecture includes an all-wheel drive option,” Erich Schmitt, president of Seat said. “Seat won’t offer awd for its new Ibiza, but other group models could use it.”

Audi to offer electric cars within 10 years

Audi is looking to offer electric cars with no exhaust emissions within ten years. In interview with Welt am Sonntag, a German weekly, Aud’s boss Rupert Stadler said that he expects diesel and battery technology to dominate the coming five to ten years in automotive industry.

“By then we will offer cars without exhaust emissions,” Stadler said. “Electric cars offer great opportunities, which we have already seized on.”

2009 Audi Q5 S-Line package revealed

Audi has revealed the S-Line package for the new 2009 Audi Q5 which will be available in the US in the summer of 2009.

Appearance wise the the 2009 Q5 S-Line gets a shiny grille with matching mesh pattern air vents around the fog lamps. Standard are 19-inch alloy wheels but you can opt for a 20-inch upgrade. Inside, the S-Line package gives the Audi Q5 a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather, aluminium trims and Nappa leather or Alcantara sports seats with lumbar support with S-Line logos.

Performance wise Audi has left the engine lineup untouched but does offer a sportier suspension kit. The U.S. will get a 3.2L V6 FSI direct-injection unit that will produce 265-hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 will come in at 6.8 seconds. Check out our original 2009 Audi Q5 post.

Iron Man hits theaters, Audi sponsors premiere with fleet of R8s

Iron Man opened in theaters today and some us from eGMCarTech just got back from watching Tony Stark and his Audi R8. We thought the movie was very entertaining overall, packed with action and quite comical as well.

Audi took over the red carpet at the Iron Man premiere two nights ago in LA as stars arrived in Audi R8’s, Q7’s and A8L sedans. Stark’s Audi R8 was also on display at the premiere. Jeff Bridges, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau and Terence Howard all arrived in R8 while Gwyneth Paltrow arrived in an Audi A8L W12 sedan, and Jack Black, Leslie Bibb and Vince Vaughn showed up in Audi Q7’s.

Lamborghini to share fewer components with Audi

Lamborghini is looking to distance itself from sister company Audi. According to president Stephen Winkelmann, future Lamborghinis will us only 20 percent of parts from Audis.

“In the future, we will always work together just on the hidden parts — parts that will not touch the DNA of Lamborghini,” said Winkelmann. “That could include things like the electrical platforms that need high investment, or hoses and filters, but we have to safeguard against too much of it.”

If you’re big movie-buffs like us here, you’re probably looking forward to this Friday when the Iron man movie hits theaters. Also, if you’re crazy about cars like us, you’re probably looking forward to seeing Ironman’s Audi R8 in action.

Check out these two new behind the scene videos of the Audi R8 and Audi Q7 stunts that you’ll see in the movie on May 2nd.

Director Jon Favreau and his stunt team tell how much of a pain in the arse it was to work with the R8 and the Q7 due to the quality of the engineering and design that went into the cars.

2009 Audi TT-S hits the UK roads to take on the Z4 and SLK

Along with the new 2.0L TDI quattro Audi TT, Audi has officially launched the new Audi TT-S for the European market. Offered in both a Coupe and Roadster variant, the TT-S is powered by a 2.0 liter engine that produces 272-hp mated with an S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. 0-62mph comes in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 155mph.

Pricing for the Audi TT-S Coupe starts at €44,900 while the Roadster version goes for €47,750.

2008 Audi Sportscar Experience: Drive the Audi R8 for a day

Audi today announced the launch of its 2008 Audi Sportscar Experience at the Audi Forum Sonoma at Infineon Raceway in California. The program gives you hands-on driving experience using a variety of vehicles from Audi’s R, RS and S categories. And yes you can get behind the steering wheel of an R8, but you’ll have to cash out quite a few dollars to do so.

The track at Infineon Raceway offers 160-foot elevation changes, challenging corners and has been described by many as a smaller Nurburgring. Sounds fun.

Pricing starts at $695 for half-day progoram with Audi’s ‘S’ models including the S4, new S5 and the S8. Audi R8 packages start at $1,895 for a one-day program and $3,495 for a two day program.

Porsche seeking more power and influence at Audi

Three Porsche heads will join Audi’s supervisory board at its annual meeting on May 7. Porsche’s CEO Wendelin Wiedeking, CFO Holger Härter and the grandson of Porsche’s founder Ferdinand Piëch will all sit in to discuss further cooperation between the two.

Wiedeking has previously said that Porsche will share electronic architectures, platforms and vehicle distribution with the Volkswagen Group.
