MTM has released a new tuning package for the Audi TT RS, a rebirth of the 5-clyinder engine that MTM says is “perfect motorization for drivers who like their car being suitable for racing.”

After undergoing some upgrades, the MTM Audi TT RS makes total of 424-hp and a peak torque of 413 lb-ft. That allows for a 0 to 62 mph time of 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 185 mph.

If you feel 424-hp is too much for you (and we don’t know why you would feel that way), MTM also offers a 404-hp upgrade and a 408-hp upgrade. To make it a little more exciting, MTM added original BIMOTO design in 19 and 20-inch wheels.

After the MTM power therapy, the sport car from Audi gets a power of 424 BHP and 560 Nm of torque and shows itself with a new aerodynamic which is based on the Ur-Quattro.

The secret: love for details and understanding of the new engine from Audi. In addition to the adjustment of the engine control unit, MTM has also worked on the exhaust system: new middle- and end- pipes with throttle valves. Moreover, an additional pre-pipe with metal catalyser can be built in. The result: a high-revving engine, lots of torque in every range of performance and an impressive sound thanks to MTM exhaust system technology with throttle valve. A compact sports car which will be good for best lap times and this not only on the small track of Hockenheim.

The MTM TT-RS can be ordered in 3 different stages of power enhancement. Besides the maximal stage of 424 BHP with 84 BHP more as the 340 from the series car, MTM also offer 2 stages with 404 and 408 BHP and 550 Nm. MTM sports rims with the original BIMOTO design in 19 and 20″, as well as suitable spacers in 20 mm and 30 mm are available.

Pricing for the 2010 Nissan Cube will start at $13,990 for the base Cube 1.8 model, unchanged from the price-tag in 2009. For 2010, the Cube S and SL models get Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, leather-wrapped steering wheel and steering wheel audio controls as standard options. The S models also get iPod connectivity, MP3 CD-ROM playback capacity, Radio Data System, speed-sensitive volume control and two additional speakers (for a total of six) as standard. A new exterior color, Sapphire Black, is also being offered.

Nissan Announces U.S. Pricing on 2010 cube®

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today announced pricing for the 2010 Nissan cube®, which is on sale now at Nissan dealers nationwide. The 2010 Nissan cube is available in three well-equipped models: cube 1.8, cube 1.8 S and cube 1.8 SL and in a special cube 1.8 S Krom Edition. The starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price* (MSRP) for the cube 1.8 Base model of $13,990 USD is unchanged from 2009. Earlier today, the 2010 Nissan cube was named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Every cube includes many standard safety features, including six standard air bags.

The front-wheel drive cube is offered with a standard 122-horsepower 1.8-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine and a choice of Nissan’s advanced, smooth shifting Xtronic CVT™ (Continuously Variable Transmission) or 6-speed manual transmission.

Acura has released the pricing details on the new 2010 Acura ZDX crossover, which will arrive at dealerships starting Dec. 15. Pricing will start at $45,495 for the base ZDX.

The 2010 Acura ZDX with a Technology Package will run you $49,995 and will ad Acura’s Navigation System with Voice Recognition, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic with Traffic Rerouting, AcuraLink Real-Time Weather with radar image maps, a full VGA display screen and an innovative new multi-view rear camera. It also includes an upgraded Acura/ELS Surround 415-watt Premium Audio System with a built-in 15-gigabyte hard disk drive media storage system, a GPS-linked, solar-sensing, dual-zone automatic climate control system and Keyless Access System.

M-Sport has finally taken the wraps off of its Ford Fiesta S2000 rally car after nine months of hard work. The Ford Fiesta S2000 rally car will be eligible to compete in national rally championships around the world and the IRC and S200 World Cup in January 2010.

Power comes from a 1998cc 4-cylinder Duratec engine that makes 280-hp and maximum torque of 192 lb-ft. The engine is mated to an all-wheel-drive system and a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The Fiesta S2000 rally car also includes Brembo brakes and an adjustable sports suspension.

So far, the Ford Fiesta S2000 has complete nearly 3000 kms (1,864 miles) of testing in the UK and Europe. The testing program will continue into the early part of next year until the car makes its competitive debut.

All new Ford Fiesta S2000 rally car unveiled

The highly-anticipated Ford Fiesta S2000 rally car has been unveiled at a launch ceremony at M-Sport’s Cumbrian base in the UK. The new rally car, the culmination of nine months’ hard work by the design and engineering team at M-Sport, was presented by M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson. Gerard Quinn, Ford of Europe’s Senior Motorsport Manager was present as a special Ford guest during the S2000 launch.

The Fiesta S2000, M-Sport and Ford’s first global rally car, which will be eligible to compete in national rally championships around the world as well as the IRC and S2000 World Cup, is due for homologation in January 2010. However, it will make its public debut this weekend appearing as course car at the final round of the IRC series, the Rally of Scotland.

Invited guests were given an opportunity to get a close-up look at the exciting new car which has been designed by M-Sport’s award-winning technical director Christian Loriaux and his team led by Chief Designer Anthony Brinkman and Test Engineer Chris Gray.

Continuing their close relationship with Ford, the team at M-Sport has worked in tandem with Ford’s Motorsport Technical Manager Mike Norton and the Ford small car design team that developed the acclaimed kinetic design of the Fiesta road car, to develop a dynamic and aggressive looking rally car.

The experience gained from developing the record-breaking Ford Focus RS WRC has been used by the M-Sport team to develop the Fiesta S2000 rally car while working within the new FIA sporting regulations which mean that this car can be used by customers at both national and international level.

The Fiesta S2000 has already completed nearly 3000kms of testing both in the UK and Europe and that extensive testing programme will continue into the start of the next year in readiness for the car’s competitive debut.

The Fiesta S2000 is the latest in a long line of rally cars produced as a result of the successful partnership between M-Sport and Ford, starting with the Escort Cosworth in the 1990s and moving on to the record breaking Ford Focus RS WRC and Ford Fiesta ST.

It follows hot on the heels of M-Sport’s extremely successful two wheel drive Fiesta R2, which was launched earlier this year and has already taken class victories in rallies across Europe.

The arrival of the Fiesta S2000 means that together Ford and M-Sport offer a complete ladder of opportunity for rally competitors to graduate with Ford from national level right through to the WRC in Ford cars.

M-Sport Managing Director Malcolm Wilson said:

This is the first global rally car for Ford and M-Sport, I really believe that we have produced a fantastic rally car and this launch is a big step to seeing it out competing in rallies. At the 2009 LA Auto Show early next month, the 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will make its U.S. debut alongside the fuel-sipping ML450 HYBRID SUV, the first hybrid SUV from Mercedes-Benz.

We’re hoping Mercedes-Benz will offer some pricing details on the US-spec Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Earlier this week, it was announced that 563-hp SLS AMG will carry a price tag of 177,310 euros ($265,513 USD) in Europe.

The Mercedes-Benz ML450 HYBRID will make its U.S. debut with a 3.5L V6 engine mated to two-electric motors producing a total of 335-hp and a peak torque of 381 lb-ft. Mercedes-Benz says that fuel-economy is improved by 46 percent. The ML450 HYBRID SUV can also drive solely on electric power up to a maximum speed of 34 mph.

With its front-mid engine and dual-clutch seven-speed, the compelling SLS AMG boasts ideal weight distribution and race-car-like handling.

F-Cell for Fuel Cell Electric Power

Essentially an electric car that makes its own power on board, the new Mercedes-Benz F-Cell will make its North American debut at the L.A. Show. The F-Cell car has a range of about 240 miles and, running on compressed hydrogen, boasts an equivalent fuel mileage of 86.6 city-highway combined miles per gallon. In 2010, 200 production F-Cell cars will be delivered to customers in the U.S. and Europe as part of a special lease program.

BlueTEC – The World’s Cleanest Diesels

Sharing center stage with the F-Cell and the SLS AMG, the fuel-sipping E350 BlueTEC is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 210 horsepower, an impressive 400 lb.-ft. of torque and approximately 30 percent better fuel economy than a comparable gasoline engine. Now with revolutionary AdBlue injection that makes diesel exhaust super-clean, the E350 BlueTEC will be available in all 50 states in Spring 2010.

S-Class Debuts SPLITVIEW Technology

Also at the L.A. Show is an S-Class equipped with SPLITVIEW — a single display screen that allows the driver and front passenger to view two different programs at the same time. For example, the driver can view the navigation system, while on the very same display screen, the front passenger can watch a movie.

ML450 HYBRID Boasts 46 Percent Better Fuel Economy

Making its West Coast debut at the L.A. Auto Show, the Mercedes-Benz ML450 HYBRID uses a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, two electric motors and sophisticated electronics to produce more than 46 percent better fuel economy than a comparable V8-powered ML550 model. Integrated within the modified automatic transmission, each magneto-electric motor is dedicated to a specific purpose — one for pulling away under electric power, the other specifically for acceleration. With both electric motors, the ML450 HYBRID has a total system performance of 335 horsepower and 381 pound-feet of torque.

During parking and low-speed operation, the ML450 HYBRID runs on the electric drive only. The ML450 HYBRID can drive solely on electric power up to a maximum speed of 34 mph.

The electric motors are powered by a liquid-cooled, 288-volt nickel-metal-hydride battery that’s enclosed under the rear cargo floor.

Audi announced today that it will unveil the new 2010 Audi A8 sedan at the world’s most important design and art fair, Design Miami/ and Art Basel Miami Beach.

“Since our inception, Audi has embraced progress in the quest to create groundbreaking technologies and deliver new ideas to the road. The reveal will take place at the Audi Pavilion, a temporary museum structure built on Miami Beach in proximity to the iconic Fontainebleau hotel. Also included in the Audi Pavilion are a number of pieces by John Baldessari, whose work often incorporates existing images and juxtaposes them to create new meanings.

For this installation, Tom Dixon’s designers and technicians have created and experimented with new shapes to demonstrate the craftsmanship, technical development and design passion involved in the making of the new Audi A8.

Following the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Porsche today unveiled the 911 GT3 R, a race car based on the international FIA GT3 regulations that succeed the 911 GT3 Cup S. Porsche says that the main focus on creating another GT3 Cup model was to offer better drivability and even easier handling.

Power for the 911 GT3 R comes from a 4.0L 6-cylinder boxer engine turning out 480-hp with power transmitted to the rear-wheels by a sequential 6-speed dog gearbox.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R will make its world debut on Jan. 14, 2010 at the Birmingham Motor Show. Prices for the model start at 279,000 euros plus local sales tax/VAT.

New Racing Version for International GT Sport

Stuttgart. Following the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is entering yet another racing car in the 2010 motorsport season: The 911 GT3 R will be raced in series based on the international FIA GT3 regulations, thus succeeding the 911 GT3 Cup S. The main focus in developing this new model was on even better drivability and even easier handling.

The 911 GT3 R is powered by a four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine delivering maximum output of 480 bhp (353 kW) transmitted to the rear axle by a sequential six-speed dog gearbox.

The starting point in developing the 911 GT3 R weighing just 1,200 kg or 2,646 lb was the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup presented in September for one-make cup racing. Thanks to its increase in engine size by 0.2 litres, the GT3 R offers 30 bhp more than the Cup model. Both cars are based on the extra-wide body of the 911 GT3 RS street-legal sports car.

An anti-lock brake system (ABS), traction control and an e-gas with “throttle-blip” function make it much easier to get used to this new GT3 racing car than its predecessor, meaning that the new model is also more appropriate for the ambitious amateur racing driver.

Flared wheel arches added on to the body both front and rear bear clear testimony to the wider track than on the former model. And like all second-generation versions of the 911, the new 911 GT3 R also comes with striking LED rear light clusters.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R is making its world debut on 14 January 2010 at the Birmingham Motor Show. The car is built by Porsche’s Motorsport Department at the Weissach Development Centre and will be delivered to Customer Teams the world over as of spring 2010. The base price of the Porsche 911 GT3 R is 279,000 euros plus local sales tax/VAT.

Earlier this year, General Motors officially went back to selling the Chevrolet Camaro after ending production of the sports car in 2002. With a new design, more power and a strong heritage, the Chevrolet Camaro is speeding past the Ford Mustang to become Detroit’s muscle car sales leader.

The new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro outsold the new Ford Mustang by 3,000 units last month, the fifth consecutive month that the Camaro has beaten the Mustang since it went on sale this spring.  GM says that the Camaro may even outsell the Mustang altogether this year, which would be the first time the Chevy model has topped its Ford rival since 1985.

Through October, GM has sold 47,233 Camaro units, 9,237 less than the Mustang.

The Camaro “definitely could overtake Mustang as the segment leader by the end of the year,” Susan Docherty, GM’s vice president of U.S. sales said. “We will hopefully do that with only nine months worth of sales versus 12.”

Ford, on the other hand, doesn’t seem too bothered. “I don’t think Mustang sales would have been much different one way or another,” said George Pipas, Ford’s top sales analyst.

Kia’s fist U.S. built vehicle, a white 2011 Kia Sorento crossover, rolled off the production line today at Kia Motoring Manufacturing Georgia.

“The start of production for our first manufacturing facility in the United States further demonstrates our commitment to growth in North America and we are proud to be adding 2,500 jobs to the local economy” said B.M. Ahn, group president and CEO, Kia Motors America (KMA) and KMMG.

The KMMG plant is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles when it reaches full capacity. It employs some 2,500 jobs, with on-site and nearby suppliers creating 7,500 jobs.

WEST POINT, Georgia, November 16, 2009 – The first U.S.-built Kia vehicle¹, a white 2011 MY Sorento CUV, rolled off the production line today at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG), officially opening the first U.S. Kia Motors² plant. KMMG is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles at full capacity and employ 2,500 people, with on-site and nearby suppliers creating 7,500 additional jobs in the region.

Representing an investment by Kia Motors of $1 billion, KMMG will establish new benchmarks for vehicle quality and productivity by utilizing some of the world’s most advanced manufacturing techniques. KMMG’s general assembly area is outfitted with more than a half mile of height-adjustable conveyors to achieve the most favorable installation position for each team member and reduce physical fatigue. Also in general assembly, KMMG is the only plant in North America outfitted with wood flooring, which provides a more comfortable and forgiving work environment for team members.

Built on 2,200 acres, the complex includes a body stamping facility, a transmission shop where the all-new 2011 Sorento’s six-speed automatic transmission is produced, and a two mile test track in addition to the main assembly plant. The plant’s 186-foot-long stamping press delivers 5,400 tons of pressure to stamp steel into 17 different types of vehicle panels for the all-new Sorento, operating at a speed of seven to 15 strokes per minute. The massive stamping equipment spans from almost 20 feet below the floor to 39.4 feet high.

KMMG continues Kia Motors’ aggressive investment in the U.S. market. Since 2002, more than $1.3 billion has been invested in various facilities throughout the country, including a dedicated corporate campus and design center in Irvine, Calif., a state-of-the-art research and development center in Ann Arbor, Mich. and custom-built vehicle proving grounds in Mojave, Calif.

Since coming to market in the United States, Kia Motors, through its US-based marketing and distribution arm, KMA, has expanded to a full product line of vehicles and enjoyed 14 years of consecutive market share increases, including a 50 percent increase through October 2009. Toyota has unveiled the new Land Cruiser for the UK market which looks a lot different from the one we get here in the states. To be honest, we’re a bit relieved we don’t get this version.

The UK Land Cruiser is offered with a 5-door model powered by a 171-hp 3.0L D-4D engine matted to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Toyota will offer three trim-levels including LC3, LC4 and LC5 with prices ranging from £29,795 to £44,795.

Order for the new 2010 Land Cruiser will start early next month.

Design and Construction
The new Land Cruiser is only slightly larger than its predecessor, which helps maintain its off-road agility. The styling combines the model’s traditionally robust looks with styling cues that were first introduced on the larger Land Cruiser V8.

Intelligent interior packaging provides more space inside the cabin, with Toyota EasyFlat third row seats that can be raised of folded flat at the touch of a button (LC4 and LC5 models). The usable loadspace has been significantly increased and a new rear glass hatch allows items to be loaded without having to open the full side-hinged tailgate – ideal for tight parking places.

Toyota has retained the body-on-frame construction that has always been an integral part of Land Cruiser’s exceptional off-road ability. Careful attention to the suspension design and NVH measures ensure high standards of on-road ride, handling and comfort are maintained.

Technology for on and off-road performance
New Land Cruiser introduces a series of advanced but user friendly features that help the driver tackle even the most challenging routes. These include: -

* Electrically modulated Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which minimises body roll and gives positive steering on-road, and increases wheel articulation off-road.
* Full-time All-wheel drive with Torsen limited slip differential.

When General Motors kicked off sales of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro earlier this year, it hoped that most customers would opt for the V6 LS and LT trims. However, based on Edmunds.com’s estimates, two-thirds of the 47,233 Camaro units sold from April 2009 to October 2009 have been V8 SS models.

The Chevrolet Camaro with a V6 is rated at 18/29 mpg (city/highway), while the Chevrolet Camaro with a V8 is rated at 16/25. GM was hoping that strong V6 sales would help it raise its Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE). The automaker even priced the entry-level Camaro LS at $23,530, making it a bang-for-your-buck purchase for a rear-wheel-drive car with 304-hp.

Nonetheless, Vice Chairman Bob Lutz says that the V6 Camaro coupes actually cost GM as much to build as the V8 version, so the company is content that most sales have come from the Camaro SS.

FoMoCo led all automakers for the second year in a row with six 2010 models that made it onto the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick list, including four vehicles from Volvo, a brand that Ford is selling. For the first time in three years, none of Toyota’s vehicles made the list as tougher criteria cut down the selection from 94 last year to 27 this year.

“With the addition of our new roof strength evaluation, our crash test results now cover all 4 of the most common kinds of crashes,” says Institute president Adrian Lund. “Consumers can use this list to zero in on the vehicles that are on the top rung for safety.”

Subaru is the only automaker with a winner in all 4 vehicle classes in which it competes. Chrysler earns 4 awards, continuing a trend of improving the safety of its vehicles. Two new small cars, the Nissan Cube and Kia Soul also made the list for 2010. GM’s 2010 Buick LaCrosse and Chevrolet Malibu also made the cut.

An official BMW document from BimmerFile shows that the pricing of the new 2010 BMW 550i Gran Turismo will start at $64,725, including an $825 destination fee. The 550i Gran Turismo will be the only variant of the BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo that will be offered in the U.S. when it goes on sale in spring of 2010.

Power comes from BMW’s 4.4L V8 engine making 400-hp and a peak torque of 450 lb-ft. The engine is mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission that contributes to performance and fuel efficiency. 0-60 mph comes in just 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 150 mph when equipped with the Sport Package. For models equipped with all-season tires the maximum speed is limited to 130 mph.

Also, for the first time in a U.S. BMW model, the new 5 Series Gran Turismo will be equipped with BMW’s Brake Energy Regeneration system to save energy and reduce the vehicle’s fuel consumption.

Buyers can opt for 8 different packages including the $2,950 Active Ventilated Seat Package, $750 Camera Package, $1,900 Convenience Package, $950 Cold Weather Package, $1,350 Driver Assistance Package, $3,950 Luxury Rear Seating Package, $1,400 Premium Sound Package and the $4,200 Sport Package.

Refresher: Weighing in at 2,811 pounds, the 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder is powered by a 3.4L 6-cylinder engine with direct fuel-injection making 320-hp. Mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission and the Sports Chrono package, the Boxster Spyder goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 166 mph with the roof open.

Today, Hyundai Motors introduced their first direct-injection gasoline powered engine. According to Hyundai, the 2.4-liter engine, dubbed the Theta II, delivers more power while improving fuel-efficiency by 10%, reports Automotive News.

The new engine, set to debut in the redesigned Hyndai Sonata early next year, took four years and $147.4 million to develop. The Korean automaker plans to eventually introduce direct-injection technology across its entire line gas powered engines.

Hyundai reports that when compared to conventional engines of equal size, the Theta II delivers 7% more torque at low revolutions and 12% more at higher revolutions. Gas mileage is also increased by about 10% over conventional engines.

The engine will debut in the redesigned 2010 Hyundai Sonata sedan, due in U.S. dealerships early next year.

The 2010 Ford Fusion sedan was chosen as MOTOR TREND’s 2010 Car of the Year.

The Aston Martin Rapide is the UK brand’s first four-seater since the 1961 Lagonda Rapide. It will also be the first model built outside its UK plant in the firm’s 95-year history. Aston has chosen Magna Steyr, a specialist car plant in Graz that produces models for BMW and Mercedes. Aston is preparing 240 workers at Magna’s Austrian plant to build up to 2,000 Rapide sedan units a year starting next year.

“Aston have spent the past 16 months replicating their British production operation at their own dedicated factory in Graz, with a small team of Aston specialists training Magna staff, some of whom have traveled to Gaydon for first-hand experience,” reports The Sun.

What’s reason for picking Magna instead of the firm’s Gaydon, Warwickshire plant? Apparently, the Rapide was planned three years ago when there was no prediction of a recession and Gaydon was pumping out cars at full capacity.

Refresher: Power comes from a 6.0L V12 engine making 470-hp and a peak torque of 443 lb-ft. Mated to a Touchtronic 2 6-speed gearbox with electronic shift-by-wire control system, the Aston Martin Rapide can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 188 mph.
