The all-new 10th-generation Honda Civic is making waves with lots of praise and approval from customers and critics alike. It was only just launched however, entering its first year of production.
So it’s easy for car enthusiasts and Honda fans to clearly note that a sporty Si variant is still missing from the 10th generation lineup. It’s also almost impossible to imagine the Civic range without it.
Naturally, that has us all waiting eagerly for the 10th generation-based Civic Si and because the standard Civic is already receiving pretty high praise for its fun-to-drive factor, such praise elevates our hopes even more for the Civic Si’s potential–especially with the Civic Type R still in the works.
Helping us cool our hots for the anticipated Civic Si are some recent spy shots sourced at Motor1, and from looking at the details, it’s all pretty indicative of a Civic Si test mule.
Hints such as the obviously large, but covered vents front-fascia already make the front end of the car more aggressive and thus sportier looking. The wheels are also larger while the rear lower fascia sports a single-mouth center-mounted exhaust.
If you also zoom in close enough on the covered-up badges, you can clearly see the outline of the letters, “Si” on the back.
As usual, official details are still unavailable for the 2017 Honda Civic Si, though rumors suggest the use of a turbocharged 2.0L turbo-four from the Civic Type R, but with a less powerful tune. With an estimated 230hp possible, a manual transmission is also said to be the only cog swapper choice for the Si.
Ideal rivals include the Volkswagen GTI, the Ford Focus ST, and the John Cooper Works Mini Cooper.
