Report: The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is so good, it’s sold out until the 2017MY shipment arrives

The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is undoubtedly a hot sedan, both figuratively and literally–so much in fact, that GMAuthority reports that the first wave of CTS-Vs made as 2016 model-year cars are completely sold out.

“It became apparent at the end of the first quarter that we had more orders than we could fulfill,” said a Cadillac spokesperson to the outlet. About a total of 2,000 cars were made for 2016, which doesn’t sound like much. But the same spokesperson did say that the initial sales did exceed the company’s expectations. The breakdown also highlights that at least 51 percent of all sales thus far were customer placed orders, rather than cars sitting on the dealership lots.

That there already shows that the Cadillac CTS-V isn’t attracting customers from slick and enticing dealership discounts from slow sales, unlike the ELR. Also, it further proves us journalists’ claims that the CTS-V is more powerful, more fun, and above all, cheaper than the segment defining BMW M5.

It’s a hard deal to pass, and we love Cadillac for making it.
