Report: Toyota teams up with Uber and The Huffington post to combat drowsy driving w/ video

In addition to driving under the influence, driving while fatigued poses major risks and it’s not that hard to develop slowed reactions from lack of sleep and being behind the wheel. It’s often said that the less sleep you get, the more you’re likely to behave like someone who’s been enjoying five o’clock too early on a Monday.

So to no surprise, driving while fatigued is one of the leading causes of automotive crashes and fatalities around the world.

To try and combat this, Toyota, Uber and The Huffington Post announced a new campaign to try and fight drowsy driving.

So here’s the deal, and this is aimed at college students. At specific locations and participating colleges, students can get a $15 coupon off of an Uber ride to or from Campus, compliments of Toyota. So no worries there guys, they know the struggle of living off of microwave ramen for weeks just to party on the weekends.

Sleep deprivation is not only dangerous behind the wheel, it also is dangerous to your health as it slows the efficiency and function of your immune system and makes you susceptible to getting sick. It also induces stress on the body and the brain so overall, it’s just important to get good sleep.
