Volvo’s on the verge of revealing their hotly anticipated flagship sedan, the replacement to the S80, the all-new S90.
In recent past, we already caught a solid glimpse as to what to expect with Volvo’s new luxury sedan, which is ready to replace the ancient, but tried, tested and true S80 sedan. The glimpse came in the form of pictures of some official scale models as well as some spy shots of the new S90, sourced from some individuals in China. Even then, they were able to get some pictures of even a wagon version of the S90, the V90, a variant known to also be in the works on top of the S90 sedan itself.
From what we know, the Volvo S90 will sport a design heavily influenced by the latest XC90 and some of the company’s recent concepts. Additionally, like the XC90, the S90 is expected to be offered with the same power- and drivetrain options as the XC90, meaning it’ll most likely get the same twin-charged hybridized inline-four as the top-spec XC90 T8 Twin-Engine, as well as the same twin-charged non-hybrid four as the standard XC90. It’ll also be built on the same Scalable Product Architecture platform as the XC90.
Given how the S90 is to be likened to a sedan version of the XC90, it also wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the same long list of options and unique safety and driving assist technologies as the XC90.
But of course, all of that will become more apparent when Volvo reveals the car in full in the coming day. And you can catch the full reveal, straight from Gothenburg, Sweden, thanks to the company establishing a live streaming channel for viewers to watch from all parts of the globe.
