The Environmental Protection Agency’s recent action against Volkswagen has automakers on heightened alert with their oil burners, to make sure their entire processes of legitimizing compression ignition-powered cars is done by the book, with no compromise.

As a result, the launch of GM’s highly-anticipated Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon diesels could be delayed as a result of the need for extra testing. The mill under question, just in case as a precautionary measure, would be GM’s latest 2.8L Duramax turbodiesel featuring 181hp and 369 lb-ft of twist.
