Report: Mercedes-Benz may one up Bentley with a Bentayga competitor
AutomotiveNews heard through the grapevine at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show that Mercedes-Benz isn’t quite happy with Bentley making the Bentayga, and as a result, they themselves may produce a direct competitor.
Mercedes has actually been rumored to be making a “super-luxurious” crossover to sit above their next-generation full-size GL successor, and that car could very much be the so-called Merc Bentayga competitor being discuessed in this post.
The company’s director of development for SUV’s Andreas Zygan, toldĀ ANĀ of the automaker’s interest, saying such demand is growing greatly for such vehicles
Stuttgart’s interest was previously bolstered by Mercedes-Benz USA’s sales boss, Steve Cannon, who said an “ultra luxury” SUV is a “natural fit.” Such an observation was also pointed out by the fact that majority of GL SUVs sold to date have been of the top-trim levels with prices very much cracking the six-figure mark.
