Report: Lexus takes the cake as the top-selling premium brand in the US of A

Lexus has certainly come a long way since their introduction in 1989, taking the world by storm as far more affordable alternatives to the luxury marques of Germany, England, and even America. And they didn’t exactly have a rough start either, nor did they ever technically struggle with sales ever since they were birthed.

They have undoubtedly been very successful and if there’s any indication to this, Lexus apparently took the award as the best-selling premium brand in America, for now.

According to some numbers from Bloomberg, Lexus beat out BMW and Mercedes-Benz by managing to sell a total of 33,487 cars in August, 2.1% more than August of 2014, beating out Merc at second place with 28,873 cars sold, and BMW in third, at 27,775 units total.

This is apparently bolstered by the new Lexus NX SUV, since 4,448 of those 33,487 Lexus units sold in August were NX crossovers.

Well, they must be doing something right, despite the NX’s polarizing aesthetics.
