Video: How do old iPhones perform as brake pads?

That’s the million dollar question…

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to use iPhones as brake pads? Neither have we, but just in case you did, Apple enthusiast site and YouTube channel, EverythingApplePro, decided to answer the question anyway.

Here’s the premise: they took a 2002 Porsche 911, swapped out the rear brake pads on both sides with classic iPhone 4Ss and did the same with the front brake pads, though using iPhone 5Ss.

They then conducted a serious of panic stops from 20, 40 and 60 miles per hour. You know, in the event, as they claim, your brake pads completely disintegrate during your dash through mountains and all you have are eight, old iPhones laying around somewhere in your car.

Then, they took the brakes apart to see how the iPhones held up. A great watch if you’re into the destruction of perfectly good smartphones, or you’re just an Android fanboi.
