Report: Audi may bring the RS4 Avant to the US, to be launched earlier than expected

CARandDRIVER recently had an interview with Quattro GmbH’s head honcho, Heinz Hollerweger, who shared that a new RS4 Avant will be arriving earlier than expected.

However, the better part of this news bit is that Hollerweger hinted at the possibility that the RS4 could make a triumphant appearance in the US market when it gets revealed later in 2016.

Long have we yearned for an RS4 Avant, ever since the original B5 model from 2000-2001, though we never received it. We received the second generation V8-powered RS4, but only as a sedan, while the Europe got to indulge on the long-roof version.

The case is somewhat the same for the current RS4, only available in wagon form and for affluent European customers only. For the new model, gone is the naturally-aspirated V8 supposedly for a new turbocharged six-cylinder with 420hp on tap.

Why is Audi contemplating the idea of sending the new RS4 to our shores? Because they recognize that the market is changing and the demand for more wagons has potential to grow. Should the RS4 not make it to our shores however, an RS5 Sportback was hinted at taking its place instead.
