Report: Lotus gets serious about growing in the US–to move HQ to Detroit area

Lotus is currently hard at work in their attempts to bring more life to their operations by expanding their lineup. Exemplifying this even more is a recent report from AutoGuide, which says Lotus Cars USA Inc. will be relocating their central operations to the Detroit area as part of its restructuring plan.

Lotus for the US currently resides in Lawrenceville, Georgia and the location for their new base of operations is in Ann Arbor, Michigan. That also happens to be the home of revered magazines, CARandDRIVER, and Road&Track.

“North America, as the largest sports car market in the world, is important for Lotus, both for model sales and for our engineering consultancy business,” said Jean-Marc Gales, Lotus’s current CEO. “By having both of our USA organisations located in Michigan, we shall be within the heartland of the USA automotive sector, where the headquarters of some of the most important, influential and significant automotive manufacturers and suppliers are based.”

In the same breath, Lotus will be rolling out some new models following the latest Evora 400, the fastest and quickest Lotus ever. Deliveries are set to begin later this year.
