Report: The next Nissan Z to be more like original Datsun 240Z
AutoBlog recently sat down with Nissan’s creative chief, Shiro Nakamura, who described the next-generation as a car that would be modeled more after the original 240Z.
According to their report, Nakamura said that they’re seeking a lot of inspiration from the original Datsun models from the 1970s. But that sounds like every other new car out there.
Just for a fun fact or two, the Datsun 240Z sold for $3,600, which is around $17,000 in today’s change with inflation.
Also coming into question is what it will be named, since the model numbers of previous Zs were based off of engine displacement. The 350Z was called such because it had a 3.5L V6, while the current 370Z gets a 3.7L V6.
The new Z is also Nissan’s only current offering for an affordable sports car since the production IDx Concept was shelved from failure to find a suitable platform.
