Report: Mitsubishi to revive the Evo nameplate for a crossover

Mitsubishi’s been mystifying us with their future plans and after they axed the Lancer Evolution, it seemed they even made their future even bleaker.

But recently, sales have been increasing for them as they continue to just get by with models that are otherwise aging and due for a replacement. Altogether, Mitsubishi’s just struggling to stay relevant by any way stretch or means.

And it appears Mitsubishi might be making some changes to make them relevant again as AutoExpress reports that the small Japanese automaker might revive the “Evo” nameplate, but for a crossover model.

A couple years ago, Mitsubishi announced to be working on plans for expanding their crossover lineup in the near future, to get a piece of that cash cow pie.

Within the mix of those same announcements, Mitsubishi did also say that the Evo nameplate wasn’t 100% dead and hinted at its application on a crossover. At this point, this project has been a year in the making.

Not much else is known about the new crossover, other than it will replace the current Outlander Sport and would feature a new plug-in hybrid option.
