Report: Bentley could build a smaller crossover

We know you’re heard us and hundreds of other auto journalists say it, but we’re going to keep on reminding you, just in-case you were still skeptical.

Crossovers a hot thing now, not only by demand, but also because automakers recognize that demand and how much money it could make them. Crossovers are a total cash-cow at the moment and Bentley’s one of the automakers to acknowledge this, which is why they’re in the process of making the Bentayga, their first ever crossover.

However, word from AutoCar is that they’re not planning to stop there as they’re also expressing interest in a smaller crossover.

Bentley’s Board Member for Engineering, Rolf Frech, revealed that Bentley could offer an entry-level crossover. Further hinting at this possibility was the fact that CEO Wolfgang Durheimer also suggested Bentley’s desire to expand their lineup.

This also doesn’t seem out of play either, considering Bentley’s also seeking to reach downmarket for more sales, hence the creation of the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept, or Bentley’s pitch to make a relatively affordable, yet potent competitor to the Porsche 911, the Mercedes-AMG GT, and the Jaguar F-Type.
