Report: More rumors of BMW’s M7 project surface

BMW’s known to have a pretty solid position on the idea of an M7, despite the fact that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG, Audi S8, and the Jaguar XJR all exist to create a rather unique niche market.

The reason being is that a large, fast land yacht sort of conflicts with the ideology of BMW’s sporty and performance reputation–though this may be a bit of stretch since a lot of their cars currently are fast land yachts, many of which lost their traditional BMW charm.

But for those reasons, rumors of BMW changing their mind have been beginning to surface given that there does exist a market for high-end, large bodied, luxury performance sleds.

Further bolstering the possibility of a BMW M7 isĀ AutoBild, who reports more details surfaced from some BMW “insiders.”

According to the report, the M7 is going to happen to take on the Audi S8, the Mercedes-AMG S63, and the Jaguar XJR. This would be the first M7 ever.

Power is said to be supplied by the same motor providing motivation for the BMW M5 and M6–the automaker’s twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 with over 600hp.

Nothing’s official as of yet, but the possibilities keep getting stronger.
