Report: Mercedes-Benz is also working on a new ultra-luxo crossover

It is without a doubt that the ultra-luxury super crossover wars are beginning to heat up, especially since crossovers of any size or shape are a hot commodity and examples like Bentley’s new Bentayga are beginning to surface.

But following the Bentley is a new trend as Rolls-Royce announced to be introducing their own crossover and of course, you have Land Rover’s top-end Range Rover as well. So crossovers are now something super luxurious automakers will be doing. And in order to compete, Mercedes-Benz plans on revealing their own version, according to AutoCar.

Dubbed a Maybach crossover, the new model will be exactly as it sounds–a seriously high-end full-size crossover built to compete with the Bentley and Rolls-Royce versions.

It’ll be based on the next-generation Mercedes GLS, the replacement for the current GL. However, that’s still a ways away, so don’t expect it anytime soon.

Power should be supplied by the same twin-turbo 6.0L V12 as the Mercedes-Maybach S600.
