Report: Honda’s S660 could gain a Type-R variant and a new S1000 is possible

Ok, so it seems like Honda’s finally gotten a grip on the reality of their position–that it could be so much better than what it is right now.

This is observable from the extremely-likable Honda Civic Coupe Concept from the New York Auto Show and the introduction of their new Kei roadster, the S660, currently on sale in Japan only.

To make things more interesting, Australia’s Motoring reports Honda may even add a Type-R version of the S660. This gets us even more excited after Honda’s famous tuner firm Mugen, introduced their version of the S660.

But that’s not all as Motoring also supposedly heard rumors of a new S1000 was approved for production as a global model, featuring a 1.0L turbocharged VTEC four with around 127hp. More power probably means a larger size, and that could mean Honda could have a Mazda Miata MX-5 competitor in the works.

We’re crossing our fingers for that rumored launch date of around 2016 for that S1000.
