Report: The Mini Superleggera gets approved for production, due by 2018

CAR in the UK recently learned Mini approved of the Superleggera Concept for production.

The Mini Superleggera Concept was a one-off concept designed and built specifically to gauge interest and wow spectators at the Concours d’Elegance at Italy’s Villa d’Este.

And reception was so good, Mini decided to take it to the next level by presenting it to upper management for approval. Now, the car will actually be produced.

Specifics are unknown, but CAR heard it’ll ride on the same UKL platform as other Minis while being powered by a 1.5L turbo three-banger or a 2.0L turbo four under the hood. It’s estimated to cost around 35,000 euros and majority of the initial design should make it into production, minus some changes here and there to conform with European crash standards.
