Report: The US-spec 2016 Mazda MX-5 only weighs in at 2,332lbs

How light are we talking about? Well, for starters, Mazda apparently confirmed to CARandDRIVER that the new Miata only weighs 2,332lbs, which is not much more than the original Miata that came out in 1989. This is also an impressive feet considering the Miata is only slightly shorter, and lower than the outgoing model, while being wider.

It also maintains its respected 50:50 weight distribution for the most balance.

Power is supplied by a naturally-aspirated 2.0L four-banger. Opting for a six-speed automatic adds 49lbs to ring the total in at 2,381lbs.
