Report: Ford’s working on a new EV to compete with future Chevy Bolt

The entry-level EV wars are seemingly heating up, despite the vast majority accepting and acknowledging that they’re still not quite a suitable replacement for the internal-combustion engine.

Either way, automakers are seeking to increase offerings and improve technology. One example was the revealing of Chevrolet’s new Bolt concept, which hints at a new subcompact EV for the masses.

But obviously, Chevrolet is always met with their own arch rivals in Dearborn and Auburn Hills. This time however, it’s with Dearborn as Automobile heard Ford might match Chevy’s move with the Bolt.

This makes perfect sense since Ford is kinda-sorta already there with the current C-Max Energi. But that’s a plug-in hybrid. They’ll most likely fit the next model with an all-electric powertrian as a competitor to the Volt.

But, we’re speculating at this point. Automobile says to expect a sub $40,000 price range and an unveiling at the LA Auto Show later this year.
