Report: Mercedes-Benz ain’t moving down market

Mercedes-Benz is known and perceived as a luxury automobile company. But over time, they’ve produced more affordable vehicles for the masses, like the A-Class and B-Class in the 1990s. More recently, for our market, they’ve introduced the GLA and the CLA.

But according to Motoring in Australia, that’s as far down market as they’re willing to reach, after speaking with CEO Dr. Dieter Zetsche.

Benz ain’t considering any cheaper models, regardless of high crossover demand.

This basically dismisses some rumors that a crossover based on a Renault Clio could surface from the automaker, considering Mercedes-Benz and Renault-Nissan are working on a couple things right now.
