Report: Hyundai’s working on a new 3.3L twin-turbocharged V6

The Korean Car Blog was able to get an information slip on what appears to be a new 3.3L twin-turbocharged V6, currently under development by Korea’s greatest, Hyundai.

The slip consists of what looks like a screenshot of a dyno machine, which reads out the information “LambdaII 3.3L Twin-turbo,” “V6 gasoline,” and some power figures such as 365hp and 379 lb-ft of torque.

Now, it could be anyone’s guess as to where this motor is going to end up. But there’s a chance that it could pose as a possible replacementĀ forĀ the current Tau V8, as a more fuel-efficient, but nearly just as powerful alternative. We are in the age of downsizing, so don’t rule this one out.

At the same time, Hyundai is also known to be moving the Genesis coupe around in its lineup with it moving upmarket, away from its affordable rear-wheel drive sports car status. This new engine could play a big factor in the development of this new Genesis Coupe.
