Mercedes-Benz unveils new G500 4×4² for show
Several hints arose over the past couple weeks about a new Gelandewagen concept due at Geneva next month from Mercedes-Benz. But given how the G-Wagen has changed very little over time, other than just being modernized, it was hard to imagine and speculate what they could come up with next, especially after the bonkers 6×6 concept.
Following that behemoth of a concept, rumors suggested Mercedes might tone it down to make a more “normal” 4×4 version…and that version is this new G500 4×4-squared…whatever that means.
According to the press release, this new G500 is just exaclty that, a less ridiculous G63 AMG 6×6. The 4×4-squared version still gets more ground clearance, massive 22-inch wheels with 325/55 off-road rubber, and lots of carbon fiber bits.
Propulsion is supplied by a 5.5L V8with 387hp. The rest of the details were kept under wraps for now. So stay tuned to hear more of what Mercedes has to say when the G500 4×4-squared’s press conference occurs at Geneva.
