Report: Nissan GT-R Hybrid to surface by 2018

Some big changes are happening at Nissan, mainly with the GT-R, where Top Gear reports the next-generation GT-R should sport a hybrid powertrain.

Speaking with Nissan’s Shiro Nakamura, word is the next R36 GT-R will also be styled after the recent 2020 Vision Gran Turismo concept. But don’t hold your breathe for a mid-engine setup as the Concept has its engine sitting behind the passenger cell. The new GT-R will remain to be a front-engined coupe with all-wheel drive, built on a rear-wheel drive paltform.

An expected launch date in 2018 is expected.
