Toyota teases the new 2016 Tacoma, debuts on January 12 in Detroit

Toyota is on high alert with its Tacoma, mainly after General Motors just recently introduced some new midsize pickups to reignite the market the Tacoma was otherwise one of only two other major players in.

And to remind us that they’re revealing the new 2016 Tacoma in Detroit, Toyota released a brief teaser of the new Taco’s tailgate in an action shot of some mudding.

The Tacoma name is clearly stamped into the tail’s door, much like it is with the Tundra. That said, we can most likely expect styling to come from the Tundra, which is basically the Tacoma’s larger brother. Additionally, because the current Tacoma is nearly 10 years old, you can very much bet that it’ll be redesigned from the ground up.

Check out the teaser and brief press blast after the jump.

Tacoma. Detroit. January 12. It’s on.
