Report: Koenigsegg to attempt Nurburgring lap record
One of the most renowned titles in motorsports world is the lap record time for the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany. Very few cars dominate the top and are driven by the world’s best drivers.
So far, the record is dominated by the Radical SR8, which is a bit ridiculous since the Radical is made in a shed in the UK and isn’t exactly a standard production car–the Nurburgring lap record is often and best reserved for standard production cars. The next but more notable example would be the Porsche 918 Spyder, holding second place at 6:57. McLaren’s right behind with the P1.
Now, Koenigsegg is interested in that record, according to CARandDRIVER, who spoke with Christian von Koenigsegg at the factory during a press tour. The plan is to have two Ageras, a standard Agera and an Agera R, to the game table to see if it can be driven to be the fastest automaker around the Nurburgring.
But to make sure Koenigsegg stays there, the Swedish automaker says they’re also bringing a One:1, their flagship model with a dizzying 1,341hp
