Report: The Mazda6 diesel is still on its way

Remember the Mazda6 diesel? We do now too.

It was supposed to come with the launch of the current Mazda6 sedan, but it still has yet to be launched in the US, which is a bit worrying, especially since the 6 was just updated for a mid-cycle refresh.

According to AutomotiveNews, the diesel is still getting reworked to offer the performance that Mazda seeks to provide with a US-bound diesel sedan, after speaking with Mazda North America’s CEO, Jim O’Sullivan.

“We’re still very much committed to diesel,” remarked O’Sullivan.

Originally, the Mazda6 diesel has been delayed because the original engine didn’t meet new US-based emissions regulations.
