Report: BMW continues to expand lineup, but still no M7
MotorTrend sat down with BMW’s director of product planning, Paul Ferraiolo, who shared some details about BMW’s near-future plans for lineup expansion. With rumors bouncing back and forth in terms of a full-fledged M7 high-performance luxo-barge, heads are being scratched and chins being fondled about whether or not BMW was going to do it.
And word from the lion’s den is a no-go, according to Ferraiolo. There will not be a BMW M7 to combat the Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG and the Jaguar XJR. The reason: the BMW Alpina B7.
“We feel really good with what we’ve got with Alpina,” he continued. “The M adds sort of a track-element to that, and I don’t know if there’s a lot of demand for the 7-Series on the track.”
