Report: Audi still on track with a production version of Quattro Concept

Audi teased us twice over the years over the prospect of a possible modern day rendition of the original Quattro Sport Coupe by creating and showcasing two concepts.

To boot, we had the Audi Quattro and Sport Quattro concepts, with the first sporting a hot 2.5L turbocharged five-cylinder modeled after the original’s unit while the second Sport Quattro had a 700hp hybrid powertrain.

On both cases, Audi denied any possibility about the models reaching production, despite many of us asking for it. But now, it seems the production Quattro could be on the table once again for production consideration, according to AutoCar.

“We are working on Quattro, it is still alive,” said Audi’s design chief, Marc Lichte to AutoCar at the LA Auto Show. However, the next rendition will be “more extreme” with new “surprises,” whatever that means.
