Report: Hyundai’s marketing chief resigns from position
It appears the recent pressure against Hyundai has incurred a change of staff at the Korean automaker as the brand’s marketing chief, Steve Shannon, stepped down after joining the team in 2011.
According to AutomotiveNews, Shannon’s resignation takes effect immediately. He is no stranger to the automotive world however, after working in Detroit for the past 25 years before Hyundai. His work includes Buick, Oldsmobile, Saab, and Hummer. He was also very integral to the launching of Saturn. Prior to his appointment at Hyundai, Shannon served as the executive marketing director for Cadillac.
Shannon is highly credited for boosting Hyundai’s market share and consumer awareness throughout the US. But amid slowing sales and controversy with overstated fuel economy ratings, it may have become a little too much for Shannon to handle.
