The third generation Kia Sorento was recently launched in Asia earlier this year after being officially revealed in South Korea, understandably for their domestic market.
Now, the new 2015 Kia Sorento will actually come to America as a 2016 model and is set for a reveal at this year’s auto show in Los Angeles. As a result, Kia released its first official photo of the new Sorento, which receives some aesthetic changes to appeal to American tastes–these changes include more feature-rich exterior details such as glitzy daytime running-LEDs, the chrome mesh grille, mirror caps, and wheels.
Speaking of which, those LED light clusters are described to be a part of Kia’s future design language and should find its way onto other models.
The 2016 Kia Sorento comes in either five-seat or seven-seat arrangements and should most likely receive power from either a base Hyundai-sourced four-cylinder and a larger V6 option, also lifted from the Hyundai parts bin. No word on the cog swapper, so a six-speed automatic could still be equipped, while there is a chance to see a Hyundai-sourced eight-speed automatic.
All the details should surface on November 18, the introductory press day at the 2014 LA Auto Show.
